Today I am so excited to welcome our very own, most incredibly fabulous Kris!  Kris is here today wearing her Kris T. Bethke author hat, and has come to talk to us about her latest release, Pumpkin Rolls and Porn Sounds. She has also brought along an exclusive excerpt and a great giveaway.  Please join me in giving Kris a virtual hug and a big welcome!

I’m thrilled to be here today to talk about my latest release.  Extra special thanks to Jay for letting me hijack the blog this morning, and for helping me out (in more ways than one.)

We all have a certain type we’re attracted to, right?  A particular look that draws our eye every time.  I think it’s just how we’re wired, that there are physical aspects that appeal to us and spark attraction.  But what would happen if someone you normally wouldn’t look twice at captured your attention in other ways first?

In Pumpkin Rolls and Porn Sounds that’s exactly what happens when Will meets Joshua.  Will has always been attracted to guys that are similar to him in body type.  But Joshua is the complete opposite.  He’s tall and broad and beefy and, well, hairy. If Will passed him on the street, he knows he wouldn’t look twice.  But meeting Joshua while the man is speaking at a PFLAG meeting changes all that.  Joshua draws his attention and hooks his interest, and Will doesn’t care what Joshua looks like, he just wants to get to know him better.

I’m going to be honest and say that, sometimes, I get tired of the heroes in my romances always looking movie star prefect and being utterly gorgeous.  There’s so many kinds of attractive and sexy in the world, that it always pleases me when there’s a different kind portrayed in my fiction.  What I wanted to explore in this story was what happens when the looks come secondary.  Don’t get me wrong, Will definitely finds Joshua sexy.  Of course, Joshua has no idea why.  And it’s up to Will to show Joshua that he’s attracted to all of him.

I had a lot of fun writing their dynamic.  Seeing Joshua through Will’s eyes, and finding a way to explain the attraction, was an awesome challenge.  I knew why they worked so well together, but making it believable wasn’t always easy.  Most of all, I wanted readers to fall in love with Joshua right along with Will.  To see the appeal of not only his generous heart and kind nature, but his body as well.  Because love can only bloom when there’s the complete package, and if anyone deserves a doting boyfriend, it’s Joshua

“You know,” Joshua said, low and conspiratorially. He leaned a little closer. “Those noises aren’t exactly appropriate for public.”

I grinned, and wiped my lips with a napkin. I could see the spots of color on his cheeks above his beard and if I hadn’t recognized his dilated pupils for what they meant, I would have thought he was embarrassed. But I knew I was turning him on, at least a little, and that made my confidence reappear.

“You should be proud that your pumpkin roll inspired porn noises,” I said, making my voice as sultry as I was able. “I don’t even make those in bed.”

His nostrils flared as he sucked in a deep breath. “Sounds like you haven’t been going to bed with the right kind of men.”

“You’re probably right,” I acknowledged with a tip of my head.

He blinked, and then laughed, sitting back in his chair and raising his cup to his lips. He took a sip, and then winced as if the liquid was just a little too hot. He stared at me, his gaze open and hungry. I took another bite, licking my fingers in a suggestive manner and making another noise, though quieter this time. I wanted him to know the sound was just for him.

He cleared his throat, and took another drink of coffee before he said, “So, Will, not that it’s not good to see you again, but what brings you in? I’ve never seen you here. And trust me, I would have remembered.”

I shoved the last bit of roll into my mouth to buy myself a little time before I answered. I chewed and swallowed, shoring up my confidence one last time, and then answered blatantly, “I wanted to see you again. To ask if you might be interested in having dinner with me?”

“Yes,” Joshua answered fast, then gave an embarrassed chuckle. “Um, I mean, sure, that sounds nice. When were you thinking?”

“Tonight?” I responded quickly. The nerves were gone now that I knew he was interested too. “If you’re free, that is.”

“Yes,” he said, his voice seeming even deeper.

I picked up my tea and sat back in my chair, not even trying to hide the satisfied smile. Excellent.

Blurb

Pumpkin Rolls and Porn SoundsWill Grant only attends the PFLAG meeting because his mother guilts him into it. But the instant he hears the night’s speaker, Will is glad he showed up. Joshua Rhinehardt is dynamic and engaging. Although Joshua isn’t physically Will’s type, Will can’t get the man out of his head.

Joshua may be comfortable in his own skin, but it isn’t often men like Will are attracted to him, and he’s not comfortable changing for someone else. He wants to make a life with Will, but his own insecurities keep getting in the way.

Will’s unwavering acceptance helps Joshua see that when two people connect, physical appearance just might not matter at all.
