Aden Ingle has been in love with his dream-man, Dreamy, since he was fourteen. The only problem is that his Dreamy only exists in his dreams, at least right now, as Aden is convinced that fate will bring them together. Unfortunately, as his thirtieth birthday looms before him, Aden is beginning to realize that maybe there isn’t really a Dreamy in his future.

While away at hotel/restaurant trade show, Aden meets Logan. While not the Dreamy he’s always pictured for himself, Aden finds that the flesh and blood reality is more appealing than the fantasy. The only problem is that Logan lives in Los Angeles, while Aden lives in Missouri. However, Aden is content to have his vacation fling before going back to living in his fantasy world.

What Aden wasn’t expecting was Logan’s persistence at making Aden a big part of his life. With the ball in Aden’s court, will he give up everything he’s built for himself – both personally and professionally – to take a chance with Logan, or will he choose to give it all up and wait for his Dreamy to become a reality?

I am going to be completely honest with blog readers here. There is just something about Ethan Day’s writing that just reaches out and grabs me from the first words and holds tight until the last sentence. For me, Day’s books have always been an auto-buy and many of them are on my read-over-and-over list for those times when I need a bit of humor. So, needless to say, I’ve been anxiously awaiting this book. So, let’s get on with the review.

Aden and his best friend Nathan are business partners who own a restaurant together. Aden working the front end of the business, while Nathan handles the back end. Though they once dated and slept together, they realized fairly quickly that they make better friends than lovers. His other best friend, Finn, is their best “girl friend.” As the story is told through Aden, we get an inside look into the nonsense Aden has running through his head. I burst out laughing more than a few times.

This story is told in the present day starting with Aden and his best friends heading to their restaurant for Aden’s “Going Away party,” interspersed with flashback of Aden’s and Logan’s relationship. While, ordinarily I’m not a fan of flashback-told stories, for this story it worked.

Logan also is a restaurant owner. Originally from Atlanta, now from Los Angeles, he spots Aden the first night in town. The following morning when they attend the same seminar, they find themselves sneaking glances at each other. As the week goes on, the two of them abandon the trade show in favor of spending every available minute together. While Logan doesn’t act or look like the man Aden has dreamed of, there is no disputing that Logan is falling hard and fast for Aden.

As a romance, this book had just the right amount of pure romance mixed with some very romantic sexy times. I have to admit, some of it left me with goosebumps. There was just something so romantic about Logan and Aden passing a note during the seminar! While it was kind of high-schoolish, at the same time I enjoyed it. I eagerly awaited Aden’s flashbacks so I could see how Logan not only met, but exceeded, the chivalry Aden’s Dreamy possessed.

The major secondary characters, Nathan and Finn, enhanced while never stealing the show. Personally, I loved Finn with her sarcasm and straight-talking. Nathan, on the other hand, seemed to still be harboring feelings for Aden. Other characters included Logan’s mother and his best friend Sam, who isn’t as good at hiding his feelings for Logan as he thinks.

So, while I loved the characters and the writing, I was hugely disappointed in the ending. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone, but it wasn’t what I expected to happen. Add in that the ending was a bit abrupt and there wasn’t anything to tell us whether the choice Aden made was worth it, I felt cheated.

Overall, it wasn’t my most favorite Ethan Day novel, but I will admit it is still going in my read-over-and-over list as Aden’s thoughts cracked me up. If you are a fan of Ethan Day, you don’t want to miss this one!
