Aidan Hill has been a workaholic, forgoing relationships in favor of working his way up at the law firm he works for. At age thirty-five, he’s attained his dream of being made partner. Out celebrating with his friends, Aidan finds himself spending the night with a hot guy he picked up at one of the clubs. After the best sex of his life, Aidan is ready to head back to devoting his life to work…except he wasn’t expecting to find that his one night stand is the newly hired lead investigator for a case he’s been handed at work.

Jaxon Kane is a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t take no for an answer. Approaching Aidan at the club with the intent of having him, he was pleased to see that his one night stand is also the newest partner at the law firm that just hired him. Now if he can just convince Aidan that the two of them can have both their careers and a relationship.

I love one night stand stories that end up being more than one night! Add in a bit of mystery/suspense and this story had me hooked from the beginning. Especially when Aidan and Jaxon meet and I realized that despite Aidan being Mr. Cool and Confident in a business suit, he’s actually a pretty shy guy. Thankfully Jaxon doesn’t have a shy bone in his body!

So the plot is basically a one night stand on Friday ends up being someone you are going to have to work with come Monday morning. Aidan’s firm hired Jaxon after the last investigator was found out to have been fraternizing with the women at the firm and jeopardizing cases because of it. Needless to say, Aidan is panicking at the thought that what happened between him and Jaxon is going to end badly. Add in that Jaxon isn’t satisfied with just one night, and Aidan is conflicted….best sex of his life versus a career that he has given everything for. Through in a bit of a mystery with the client Aidan is representing and you’ve got a well written story that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

One complaint that I had was when it came to the sexy scenes… they had so much potential but came across as awkward. My opinion is that if one of the characters has time to think about whether he legs are strong enough to ride the other one during the middle of sex, someone is doing something wrong.

Another complaint is that I would have liked to have seen something a bit more at the end. While it ends with a HFN with a hint there may be something more, I would have liked to have seen an epilogue to wrap it all up nicely.

Overall, this was a good read. If you like a story with a bit of mystery added in, you will want to check this one out.
