Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us at Joyfully Jay and we make every effort to protect it. In the course of doing blog business, there is certain information that we gather for various reasons. Please know that we do retain this information for business use and will never sell it. Below we have outlined the various ways we collect information from visitors and exactly how that information is used and disclosed.

Visitors

Joyfully Jay uses a variety of analytics tools to track visitors to the blog as part of our legitimate business interest, which create Log Data. Data is collected through WordPress, as well as tools such as Google Analytics, Jet Pack, Counts Per Day, and other tools that track the numbers of visitors, pages that visitors click, your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, among other information. At Joyfully Jay we use this information to track the success and reach of various posts and programs. We also share general data about visitors and page hits with our potential advertisers. This information is used as an aggregate to monitor site traffic, rather than at the individual user level.

Joyfully Jay also has security plugs in to help protect against SPAM messages, brute force attacks on our log in page, and other security measures. We use tools such as Akismet and Limit Login Attempts to monitor comments and IP addresses and attempt to prevent fraudulent use of the site.

Comments

All comments are automatically tracked through WordPress under the legitimate interest basis. This includes the IP address from which the visitor posts the comment, as well as the name and email address the visitor enters in the comment form. This information is retained automatically with each comment. However, it is not shared, sold, or used for any purpose other than monitoring comments and helping to protect against SPAM messages. The exception to this are comments used for contest entries (more below).

Contest Entries

We generally run three types of contests on Joyfully Jay. For contests that are “comment to enter” on the blog, users must leave contact information so we can notify them if they have won and arrange to get them their prize. All comments are retained through WordPress with the user’s IP address and the name and email that they enter in the comment form as a legitimate business interest so we can facilitate the contest. After selecting a contest winner, we use the name and email address provided to contact the winner. In the case where a third party, such as an author, is awarding the prize, Joyfully Jay will provide that third party with the winner’s name and contact information. This is the only time that we will share personal information provided in the comments.

We also hold contests where the winner is chosen by the third party from the comments. If this is the case, we will occasionally provide the third party with the winner’s contact information if that information was not provided in the comment so that the winner can be awarded their prize. For third party Rafflecopter run giveaways, Joyfully Jay hosts the link but we do not facilitate the giveaway or provide any information to the third party about the winner.

Newsletters

Joyfully Jay hosts two newsletters. One is the Daily Digest of posts that comes out daily and provides a highlight of each blog post that day. The second is a general Newsletter that comes out periodically with blog news and news from the romance community. These are sent out via email on a consent only basis. You must sign up in order to receive the newsletters. More information and a sign up link are available on our Newsletters page.

Forms

Joyfully Jay uses two public facing forms as part of our business. One allows authors and publishers to submit information for their guest posts via an online form. The information provided is used to create the guest post and the content is retained both in the blog post for which it was intended and in the Gravity Forms database on the administrative end of the blog. We also have an online form that allows authors and publishers to request a review. This information is also retained in the Gravity Forms database on the administrative end of the blog. Guest post information is shared publicly on the guest post for which it was intended and the review requests are only used internally to make decisions about books to review.

Cookies

Cookies are files with small amount of data that is commonly used an anonymous unique identifier. These are sent to your browser from the website that you visit and are stored on your computer’s hard drive in order to provide an enhanced experience upon returning to the site. At Joyfully Jay, this includes retaining commenter information in the comment form so you don’t have to enter it each time you stop by. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies, and know when a cookie is being sent to your computer. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service.

Advertising

Joyfully Jay accepts side bar advertising and participates in various affiliate programs for revenue. The sidebar advertising is an agreement between Joyfully Jay and the author or publisher purchasing the ad. These ads link to external sites and some tools may track clicks to those links. Amazon also tracks clicks on the affiliate links and clicks may also be tracked by Joyfully Jay. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
