Tired of the usual club scene, Don decides to try out a high end dating service called Romeo’s.  The service’s application is quite detailed, and Don decides just to go for it in his answers.  He may have embellished a bit, but he figures as long as he is there, why limit himself?

“Bent over a sofa, chair, table?” All of the above, giving or receiving.

“On all fours on a bed or the floor?” Right you are.

“Standing against the wall?” Definitely has merit.

After completing the application, Don is surprised when rather than matching him up with a date, an adorable blond named Aaron working behind the desk takes him into an office to meet the gorgeous Blake.  Blake suggests that a man with Don’s unique tastes might be the right guy for some of the more selective services of Romeo’s.  He then proceeds to introduce Don into a whole new world of sexual experiences.  Don has always been intrigued by pictures of bound subs, wishing he were the one tied up.   And now Blake gives him a chance to live his fantasy and Don loves every minute of it.

Surprises grabbed me right away, not just because of the very hot, very intense sex scene.  But also because I loved the way it opens jumping right into Don filling out his application. Immediately as readers we get a sense for Don’s voice and his game for anything attitude.  It sets the tone for the rest of the story and I was pulled in from the first line.  I also think the story lays a good foundation for the future books, giving us an idea of what the club is like and a hint of what might be to come with future patrons.  And I loved Aaron. Can’t wait to see more of him!

Still, I would have liked to know a bit more about Don.  What brought him to a dating service like Romeo’s?  What made him decide to cut loose and let out his fantasies at this particular time?  Since the crux of the story hinges on the fact that Don’s answers draw the attention of Aaron and Blake, I would have liked to have a better understanding of what brought him to this point.

Overall I thought Surprises was hot, entertaining, and left me looking forward to reading more books in the series.

Surprises is currently available for pre-order and will be released October 30 by Riptide Publishing.
