Hi guys, I am super excited about our next theme week here at Joyfully Jay… ROCK STAR Week! Â I have been working on this one for a while now and have lots of good ideas for reviews and other fun stuff. Â (And OMG, I am so excited about my cute little button that I created! My photoshop skills are so sad that I am absurdly proud of this!)
Rock Star Week is planned for February 5-11 and will feature books about rock stars and musicians.
So aside from tempting you with great things to come, I also want to use this post to let you all know some ways you can get involved. Â If any of the things below interest you, leave a comment in the post or email me at joyfullyjay@gmail.com.
Readers
– Do you have any great books about rock stars or musicians to recommend for our Joyfully Jay favorites list? Â Or do you have any suggestions for books that you would like to see me review? Â If so, let me know!
– Are you interested in writing a guest post for Rock Star Week? Maybe a review or a general post about a rock star book you really like? Or a post about what you like most about rock star stories? Â I’d love to include some reader posts and am happy to help in any way I can.
Authors/Publishers
– Do you have a book featuring a rock star or musician you want me to consider reviewing on the blog that week? Â And even better, do you have a book or books you are willing to donate as prizes to our readers during Rock Star Week?
– Would you like to write a guest post about writing rock star stories or anything else rock star related?
More details to come as we get closer. I am fine tuning my list of reviews so I will keep you all posted. And if any of my ideas above interest you, let me know. Rock on!
>I love the button. I look forward to Rock Star Week, it's gonna be exciting ^_^
>Oh man, this is one thing I've been waiting for. I thought reading about virgins, like during your Virgin Hero Week, was my thing, but now I've changed my mind…. or added Rock Stars to the list of fav topics (or is it tropes?). Can't wait!!!!
>@matty, glad you are looking forward to it. Just finished a great one I'll be reviewing that week.
>Oh, love the button! There's something really sexy (or phallic) about the guitar! I mean, there's the "truss ROD," the "neck," the "body," the "sound hole with rosette inlay," the "neck," and the "nut." And then it's played with the fingers or a prick… oops, meant the "pick." Then there's the "plucking hand" and the "fretting hand," and all that "strumming."
>I'm not a HUGE fan of the rock star genre, but Heaven Sent by Jet Mykles … big swoon (except for the one with the girl, but that's my preference). I think Indigo Knights is going to be good too, just one book there.
Reverb is supposed to be good, with a grittier feel, but I haven't read it yet. (all above by Jet of course.)
>@Tam, you are in luck! I've actually written a series spotlight on Heaven Sent highlighting each of the books for RSW. I thought this was a great series. I also just finished reading Reverb last night and will be reviewing it that week as well. Personally, I thought it was even better than Heaven Sent, but a really different tone so it depends on what you are in the mood for. Haven't tried Indigo Knights yet.
>Oh my gosh Matt, you have given this a lot of thought haven't you? 😉
I will never look at a guitar quite the same way again! Although to me the acoustic guitars are more womanly than manly (I think that it is the big "hip" curve in the body).
Now write me your top ten reasons guitars (or rockers) make you think of sex and I'll post it over RSW!
>OMG I am super excited too!!! Love Rock Stars!!!
The only ones with Rocks Stars I have read are: "A red Tainted-Silence" by Carolyn Gray and "Outfoxed" by K-Lee KLEIN, the story she wrote for the M/M Romance group's "Hot Summer Days" event. And I really love both.
>@Carnell, I really liked Outfoxed too. I so want a sequel! I will probably review that during RSW so I can include a free read. SJ Frost's story for HSD was great as well.
I have heard about Carolyn Gray's book but never read it. I'll check it out.
>I don't know if it's rockstar enough, but I'm happy to offer up Missing Butterfly as a giveaway or whatever you prefer ^_^ I also have a Valentine story about them coming out, too, that you're welcome too 🙂
>Love to read books about Rock Stars! I have read all of Jet Mykle's(Heaven Sent series, Indigo Knights, & Reverb). L.A. Witt has a good one(With the Band). One of my all time favorites is the Conquest series by S.J. Frost(Conquest, No Fear, & Keys to Love). She also has a spin-off of the Conquest series(Black Heart Down). Her Christmas story "Beautiful Harmony" was about those characters(Kyler and Robbie) and it was really sweet.
Z. Allora has a book from MLR Press called "The Dark Angels: With Wings". I noticed that a sequel is also about to be released.
For a good free read, check out K-Lee Klein's "Outfoxed" which was part of "Don't Read in the Closet". Really hot! She is also working on a sequel.
Some other ones that might not be as well known are "The Band" by Mychael Black and Shayne Carmichael, "D.N.A. Double Helix" by Jaye Valentine(about brothers), "The Curtis Reincarnation" by Zathyn Priest and "Shades of Dreams" by T.A. Chase(I haven't read this one).
Two other books that some might consider difficult to read are "A Red-Tainted Silence" by Carolyn Gray and "Shattered Glass" by AC Katt.
Also, you did a good job on your button!
>@Megan, thanks so much for the giveaway offer! I'll touch base with you to coordinate
@Lisa, wow, great list! Reverb and Heaven Sent are already in the queue for RSW. I am hoping to fit in Conquest as well. I'll check out the ones I haven't read yet.
>Oh, I just thought of another one. Ally Blue's Adder. It's kind of a fun one.
There is only one Indigo Knights book so far but I think Jet is working on another one now. I've heard Reverb is quite different, and probably more realistic, I just haven't gotten to it. Jenre mentioned Heaven Sent so I reread (parts) over Christmas. #2 still my fave I think.
>Oh yes, Adder is one of my favorites. I am trying to fit that one in too. Need to read faster…
>I can't believe I forgot to mention "More Than Moonlight" and "Moonlight Becomes You" by M.J. O'Shea and Piper Vaughn. Loved them! The sequel, "The Luckiest" about Nick, is supposed to be out in April. Can't wait!!!
"More Than Moonlight" is also a free read.
>Okay– has anyone mentioned American Love Songs by Ashlyn Kane? Because it was ROCKAWESOME!
>I can't wait for Rock Star week! It's one of my face genres to read and write. I can't offer a book to give-away since Outfoxed is a free read and Finally Home is cowboys but maybe I could give an excerpt from the 2nd Glitter Fox which is still a WIP.
I appreciate people mentioning my boys too. Have to say the Conquest books are faves, as well as the Heaven books, the Curtis Reincarnation by Zathyn Priest AND The Far Away Years by L.F. Blake – it's a lot grittier than the others but I loved it.

>Conquest series is one of my faves. Jesse and Evan make me lose my pants. Heaven Sent series is one of my faves with Faith, Darien's book being number #1 (seriously bias ^_^)
Missing Buteerfly was super sexy and also caused a pants losing. Indigo Knigts the first book is good cause its GFY (gay for you) and that alone is just too much.
I am so excited about RSW!!!!
>I second the American Love Songs nomination! num num num!
