Once again it was a good reading month (actually month and a half because this post also includes the last half of December). I went through quite a lot of books as I have been reading ahead a lot for Rock Star Week. I read 8 books in the last half of December and 21 in January! Whew!
As always, this list is books I read over the past month and half, not that were reviewed during this time. They are roughly in order of when I read them.
- Dark Soul Volume 3 by Aleksandr Voinov – I am really enjoying this dark and twisty tale of mafia men Silvio and Stefano. Volume 3 does a great job of further developing the relationship between the men, as well as giving us more insight into Silvio. I think this is the edgiest of the three volumes but also the one I enjoyed the most. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
- Blind Space by Marie Sexton – Ok, I loved LOVED this one. Sexy space spirates, kinky soldiers, great action and excitement. I seriously couldn’t put this one down. One of my absolute favorites of the month.
- Reverb by Jet Mykles – I wasn’t sure what to expect from this rocker book after reading Mykles’ Heaven Sent series, but this is a much grittier, and I think realistic look at the rock world. I really loved this one and can’t wait to share it with you all over Rock Star Week.
- Riot Boy by Katey Hawthorne – This was my other favorite book of the month. I loved Etienne and his bad boy boyfriend, rocker Brady. They are fabulous together, and oh so scorchingly hot! This is another book for Rock Star Week that I think you all will love.
- In the Red by Kari Gregg – I just loved geeky Brian and tough agent Zachary. The book was exciting, fast-paced, and super hot. I am dying for the sequel!
- American Love Songs by Ashlyn Kane – One more for Rock Star Week. I loved this book that traces the growth of the band and the growing relationship between two of its members. It is fun, romantic, sweet, and sexy. This was a reader recommendation and a really good one!
So, anyone have anything great they read this month? Anything exciting to share?
>You have been a very busy woman!
I love the Dark Soul series (sigh…Silvio). Dark Soul 4 is supposed to be out February 27. Yay! It also has another beautiful cover.
Loved, loved, loved In the Red. Like you, I can't wait for the sequel.
Out of the three books for Rock Star Week, I've only read Reverb, but I really liked it. Love Jet Mykles and her rockers!
Two other books I recently read and really enjoyed were The Island by Lisa Henry and By His Rules by J.A. Rock. A little on the darker side, but that's okay with me. I like those kinds of books, too. Also, Blue Notes by Shira Anthony was very good.
Thanks for all the great reviews Jay. I'm so excited about Rock Star Week!
>I have been hearing good things about The Island. I have it on my wish list right now. I don't know much about the other two I mentioned but I'll check them out.
And I am definitely looking forward to the next Dark Soul. I already have my calendar marked!
>I love Jet Mykles too! I have just read the "Just For You" by her and all the Heaven series books are in my TBR pile.
I have been not reading as much I would like to. Some interesting things going on in my life and also I have put a restriction on myself – if I read something I should review it – either on my blog or on Goodreads. I think that is slowing me a bit. Also I am reading a lot of books that I had read already but hadn't posted reviews. 🙂
Great reading mojo, Jay!
>A grittier Jett Mykles? I'll have to check that one out.
>Wow. Impressive! And interesting.
I have read 17 in January. Here the ones I really liked:
-The Locker Room. Amazing book. Couldn't put it down and started re reading it once I had finished. *sigh*
-Adrien English Mysteries series. Started these ones for Adrien and Jake, but nothing really happened between them in book 1 and not much in book 2. Stayed for the mysteries that I really enjoyed and to know how things could evolve between them. Really enjoyed book 4 and 5.
-Life after Joe. Deeply touched by this one (can't really tell why without spoiling it…)
-I Just Play One On TV. 2 actors, one out, the other closeted, who fell in love, playing 2 characters in a Tv show, that televiewers want to see as lovers. Exactly what I think it must happen in Hollywood and a great explanation of why gay actors prefer to stay in the closet.
-Taking the Odds Series. Aaaah, Nicky and Brandon… The last one is amazing. Well, maybe too much sex. Yeah, I said it!
Just started PsyCop series today. Enjoyed the first book and have planned to finish the series.
That's, all!!
>Yes it was quite good. Review will be out next week for RSW.
>Oh you read a lot of good ones this month! I loved Locker Room. *sigh* so good and sweet and lovely. I read/reviewed it here toward the end of last year and it was one of my favorites of the year.
I really liked Life After Joe as well. I really enjoy Harper Fox.
Oh yes, and NIcky and Brandon. They are so hot. Loved this series. It was actually my first introduction to m/m. And no, not too much sex! 😉 But seriously, love James Buchanan and loved this series.
Oh, and you are going to love PsyCops. I read them all straight through. Couldn't put them down. Vic and Jacob are awesome together and such good stories.
I haven't read I just Play One On TV but I have been hearing really good things. On my to read list for sure.
>I did see your review. One of my faves book too. Definitely.
Aaron is the one who touched me in Life After Joe when he reveals to Matt who is Rosie. Harper Fox has succeeded to put into words the thing I fear most: forgetting your loved one by starting to love someone else. I cannot imagine to continue living, yet less falling in love again. And yeah, maybe the story is a little unrealistic (when Matt finds himself on the chopper) but Aaron's words are touching and truthful, they touched me deeply. When Matt tells him that he didn't find his name from the e-mails but because he says it in his sleep and Aaron answers that it is good because he thought he was starting to forget; Wow, that was it for me.
OMG, Nicky and Brandon.*dying*
Too much sex??? Who has said that???
Have not checked her other books. BUT why has she stopped writing this series??? Why???
Love Vic and Jacob already. Starting book 2 tonight! 🙂
