Marie and Flat Copley Go to Italy

So, as Heidi revealed to you all yesterday, I am indeed in Italy!! Well, as you’re reading this, I’m in Italy, although I’m still sitting in Colorado while I write it, which makes me all weirded out over tenses and such, but (as Angelo would say), what the fuck ever.

I’ve never actually been out of the country. Yes, I crossed the border into Canada while visiting my sister, but that doesn’t count. It was pre-9/11, so they barely looked at our licenses as they waved us through. And just over the border from International Falls, MN is… nothing. Absolutely nothing. We were there for about fifteen minutes. I also went on a Caribbean cruise a couple of years ago, but that doesn’t count either. Every place we went was entirely Americanized. They used US currency, spoke English, and I didn’t even get to show anybody my passport, let alone get a stamp in it.

But this? This is real!

Here’s a brief summary of our itinerary:

Sept 7-11: Rome
Sept 11-12: Siena
Sept 12-17: Florence
Sept 17-19: Lucca
Sept 19-23: Venice

As Heidi said yesterday, I’m going with a group of women. I’m the baby of the group. Our fearless leader has everything set up and reserved. All I have to do is follow along, drink wine, and take pictures with Flat Copley!

Who is Flat Copley?

Glad you asked.

You’ve likely heard of Flat Stanley. But have you heard of mine and Heidi’s naughty blog, Coffee and Porn in the Morning? We often call it Cup O’Porn, or CoP, for short. We have a lovely mascot over there, and we’ve dubbed him Copley. And he’s going with me to Italy! I’ll be posting pictures over at CoP, so please make sure you check it out!  http://cupoporn.net/category/marie-goes-to-italy

Now, I know most of you aren’t in Italy, and I’m sorry about that. I’m also sorry I couldn’t afford to drag my cohort over here with me, because I’m rather used to traveling with her at my side. While I can’t quite give you all vacations overseas, I can offer you a lovely visit to a little town in Colorado called Tucker Springs, population, 70-something-thousand. Home to beautiful mountain views, two respected universities, and a ridiculously high cost of living. There you’ll meet some wonderful men, all destined for a Happily Ever After. Next up, Paul Hannon and Emanuel Rozal, two men who need each other desperately, whether they want to admit it or not.

Second Hand by Heidi Cullinan and Marie Sexton

Paul Hannon moved to Tucker Springs for his girlfriend, but she’s left him with a house he can’t afford and a pantry full of useless gadgets. All Paul wants is to get back to normal, even if he’s not sure what that is anymore. When he wanders into Tucker Pawn for a gift to win her back, he meets El Rozal, pawn shop owner and all-around cynic.

El Rozal doesn’t do relationships, especially not with clueless straight boys still pining for their ex. El may make his living dealing in castoffs, but that doesn’t apply to men. Still, when Paul starts clearing out his old life, pawning kitchen equipment he never wanted in the first place, El is drawn to Paul in spite of himself.

Paul and El have nothing in common except a past full of disappointments. There’s no reason to believe the two of them could fit, but in El’s line of work, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. When it comes to love, El and Paul may learn that secondhand doesn’t mean second best.

This title is part of the Tucker Springs universe.

About the Authors

Heidi Cullinan has always loved a good love story, provided it has a happy ending. She enjoys writing across many genres but loves above all to write happy, romantic endings for LGBT characters because there just aren’t enough of those stories out there. When Heidi isn’t writing, she enjoys cooking, reading, knitting, listening to music, and watching television with her husband and ten-year-old daughter. Heidi also volunteers frequently for her state’s LGBT rights group, One Iowa, and is proud to be from the first midwestern state to legalize same-sex marriage. Find out more about Heidi, including her social networks, at www.heidicullinan.com.

Marie Sexton lives in Colorado. She’s a fan of just about anything that involves muscular young men piling on top of each other. In particular, she loves the Denver Broncos and enjoys going to the games with her husband. Once in a blue moon, she also goes to Italy with Flat Copley. Wherever she is, rest assured that her imaginary friends are with her, whispering naughty things in her ear. Marie has one daughter, two cats, and one dog, all of whom seem bent on destroying what remains of her sanity. She loves them anyway. You can find her at www.mariesexton.net.
