Although they both lost their Twin Flames tragically, Tristan is determined to take Ushna as his lover and partner.

Mixed signals and miscommunication make for a rough start, but once Tristan and Ushna get on the same page, sparks fly. After a night of passion and magic, Tristan and Ushna share a secret. A secret that is only the start of several strange events in their lives. Lies, deceit, and myths surround Tristan and Ushna as they begin a journey into the unknown.

Twin Flames is the debut story from Lexi Ander and is the first installment into her Sumeria’s Sons series. Filled with unrequited love, mystery, mythology, and magic, this story grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me glued to the pages until the very end.

Tristan begins the story as a broken man, betrayed by the one man that was supposed to love him unconditionally, and becomes a strong man with a destined purpose. He is making his way through a situation that he never thought possible, but only the support of Ushna gets him through it. Ushna is Tristan’s rock – supportive, caring, and sacrificing. He would do anything for Tristan and has. I love these two men together. I have a feeling that they were meant for each other even if they both had different Twin Flames in the past. I look forward to the continuation of their love story within this series.

This world is so creative, realistic in the way that it’s set in the modern world, and fantastical in that Sumerian mythology is brought to life from the Lycans to mythical monsters to gods and goddesses. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to think in the beginning, but this new twist on gods and goddesses was very welcome. Sumerian gods and goddesses are beyond my sphere of knowledge. Ander obviously did a fair amount of research to make this story come together. The author did a great job outlining each of the gods and goddesses, as well as writing them into a story without confusing readers. This world puts a different twist on Lycans and gods and goddesses. Complete with royalty, a Council of Elders, a seemingly corrupt group of Magi, warriors, and magic this world is wonderfully developed and beautifully written.

The storyline is fast paced and full of information. It is engaging and dramatic. Nothing in this story is predictable, save the relationship between Tristan and Ushna. I have so many questions. Is Nate really supposed to be king? Does he even know he’s supposed to be king? What happened to Theo? What will the Council choose to do when they visit in ninety days? What are the Magi after? What is going on with Gregori? How was Ushna marked without a claiming bite? There is so much that I desperately want to know. Knowing that Tristan and Ushna’s story will continue gives me a little solace. But I will warn you that the ending is a cliffhanger, and has me dying to read the next book in this series.

I am extremely impressed with this first story from Lexi Ander. I am waiting on pins and needles for the release of the second book in the Sumeria’s Sons series. I highly recommend Twin Flames to anyone in need of a new twist on the paranormal genre, and even if you just plain love paranormals I have a feeling that you will love this book too.

This cover by Lee Tiffin is an okay one but I’m a little confused as to what the setting is. I’m not sure if the room is a library or what, but it’s definitely not a ranch house, which is where a good portion of the book is set. The cover also gives the feeling of a darker story. It’s mysterious, yes, but dark…not so much. On another note, the depictions of Tristan and Ushna are great and match the descriptions of the characters very well.
