Today I am very excited to welcome the fabulous K-lee  Klein to Joyfully Jay.  K-lee has a new holiday story out, and she is here to talk to us more about that and other fun stuff.  She has also brought a copy to give away so be sure to check out the details at the end of the post.  Welcome K-lee!

Thanks Jay. It’s my pleasure and can I just say it was fabulous meeting you at GRL. Oh, yes me too! (You guys, K-Lee is totally awesome!)

So you have a new book out called Countdown to Santa.  This is the sequel to your short story, Countdown to Daddies.  Can you tell us a little bit about the series and what is happening in this new book?

Countdown to Daddies came about as a sort of whim because I’d been reading stories with daddies and babies, and I thought Father’s Day would be the perfect way to introduce Matteo and Gabe. I just really like the idea of men nurturing and raising kids, especially when they are a little clueless as to what they’re in for. The first story took place before the twins were born so you see Matteo and Gabe go through “pregnancy pains” along with their surrogate – who just happens to be Gabe’s twin sister. [and btw, do you guys love the Countdown to Daddies cover as much as me?]

Countdown to Santa takes place when the twins, Megan and Dominik, are four months old and centers on how being daddies changes Gabe and Matteo’s relationship, hopefully for the better.

If folks haven’t read the first story, will they be able to pick this one up first? Or should they start at the beginning?

I think it’s probably better to read the first story since you get to meet Gabe and Matteo and it helps pave the way for the second story.

What made you decide to write more in Matteo and Gabe’s story?  And any particular reason you chose a holiday story?

I knew as soon as I finished the first story that my lovely daddies would be back. I have trouble letting characters go in general and when there are babies involved, there was no way I couldn’t revisit them. I don’t remember why I chose a holiday story except all of a sudden Santa appeared and it just seemed to fit. It gives Gabe just that little extra boost of insanity since it’s the holiday season when insanity seems to run amuck.

We are about at your one year publishing anniversary! So first off, congratulations!   And second, looking back over this past year, has it gone as you expected? Any surprises or things you didn’t anticipate?

Thanks, sweetie. It’s been a busy year for me for sure. I had my first story published on December 27 last year and now I have 10 stories of varying lengths floating around out there, as well as a freebie that I’m very much in love with.

To be honest I didn’t know what to expect. I guess the initial surprise was getting my first story accepted at all, then things just tumbled from there. I think I’m a little more confident now than I was even six months ago probably because people reading what you offer up is very validating. I’m still nervous as hell when I have a new release and I try to stay away from reviews since I’m still learning to not take them personally.

One of the best surprises was the support and feeling of family I’ve received from both my publishers and other authors, as well. It’s nice to feel like you belong somewhere when no one in your RL gets why you love writing what you write.

What about plans for upcoming books? You know I am excited for the sequel to Lucius’ Bite.  Can you tell us what else you are working on and what you have planned?

I’m glad you liked Lucius. The next book will be Ali’s story and my beautiful witch will meet his match in more ways than one. I don’t anticipate it being out until the spring but I hope you’ll still hang on and look forward to it. 😉 [Oh yes, LOVE Ali!]

My biggest project (and I mean that literally since it’s already at 72,000 words and not finished) is the sequel to the first story I had published, Finally Home. It’s the second in the Home on the Ranch series and delves further into Josiah and Wyatt’s lives now that they’ve found one another again. There will be drama and sadness, happiness and love.

I’m also working on a couple of sub calls for both my publishers (MLR and Less Than Three), one of which involves more cowboys. I blame that on my current Christian Kane obsession or maybe the other way around. Either way, I’m loving my cowboys right now. I have a couple of rockstar stories in the works, too. Those seem to be my fave subjects – cowboys and rockstars.

As for new releases, I have a story coming out with Less Than Three on January 23. It’s part of the Kiss Me at Midnight collection and oddly enough, doesn’t involve cowboys, rockstars, shifters or witches. 😉

Blurb

Gabe and Matteo have settled into the highs and lows of new fatherhood – exhaustion, dirty diapers, baby bottles and a whole lot of love. But as their first family Christmas looms on the horizon, Matteo is worried about how his partner is handling his new role as Papa Gabe.

There’s no doubt Gabe adores the twins, but his libido, sense of proportion and perhaps his sanity seem to have disappeared under the strain. Matteo is determined to make their new family work, but it may take thinking outside the box to get back the calm, sensible Gabe he planned to share fatherhood and the rest of his life with.

Bio

K-Lee Klein has lived in one part of Western Canada or another for her entire life. She’s a doting mother of three now-grown kids and has had characters and plot bunnies running around her head for as long as she can remember. Though she’s fairly new at throwing her original fiction out into the web universe, she hopes to substitute her passion for writing beautiful, emotional men for her previous jobs as a hockey Manager/coach, school band volunteer and overall chauffeur.

She lives with an overly-patient husband who totally does not get her thing for gay men, two spoiled but wonderful sons (who don’t get it either), two also spoiled but beautiful cats, many phone calls with her daughter who has already left the nest, and an abundance of fabulous gay men, large and small, bouncing off the walls of her skull, competing for their turns to tell their stories.
