Liamโ€™s hands materialized on my shoulders. โ€œYou ready for this?โ€

Nerves tangled in the pit of my stomach. Iโ€™d thought I was, but with reality closing in fast, and weapons strewn all over this bedroom as cold metal reminders of that reality, the doubts set in.

โ€œDaniel?โ€

I turned around, and when I met his eyes, I forced a reassuring smile onto my lips. โ€œYeah, Iโ€™m ready.โ€

โ€œYou sure?โ€ He trailed his fingers down the side of my face. โ€œBecause once this starts, thereโ€™s no turning back. We hit the ground running, and we keep running, or weโ€™re both dead.โ€

I nodded.

โ€œWhich also means, from the second we walk out that doorโ€โ€”he tilted his head toward the triple dead-bolted doorโ€”โ€œyou have to trust me.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ I said, wrapping my arms around him. โ€œAnd I do trust you.โ€

He curved his hand around the back of my neck and kissed me. Maybe he meant to do it, or maybe he only intended for something brief, but whatever the case, the kiss lingered.

When he pulled back, our eyes met. He should have let me go right then. We should have gone back to putting our gear together before we had to leave in a few hours.

But his fingers combed through my hair, and I shivered. And he leaned in to kiss me again. And that kiss deepened.

I pulled him to me, closing my fingers around fistfuls of his shirt as he parted my lips with the tip of his tongue. Oh my God, no man kissed like Liam. Deep, breathless, giving as much as demanding, and my knees and spine liquefied as my cock hardened. I touched his face, running my fingertips across the mod on his temple, and goose bumps came to life along my forearm as if the device had sent a low current of electricity beneath my skin. When I pressed against him, he groaned into my kiss. This was so not the time, so not the place, but I couldnโ€™t help myself. With my erection against his, I didnโ€™t give a fuck about anything except getting clothes off. Getting him off. Fucking hell, I needed him.

I stumbled back a step, my foot grazing something metallic which scraped across the hard floor and reminded me of the existence of the ammo box. And why it was out. What weโ€™d been planning. What we were supposed to be doing.

I broke the kiss and panted against his lips. โ€œDo we have time for this?โ€

โ€œProbably not.โ€ His dipped his head and kissed the side of my throat. โ€œLesson one for living in the Gutter.โ€ He nipped just above my collar, right where heโ€™d bitten me the other night, and I shivered. โ€œAn opportunity for something like this presents itself ? You fucking take it, because you never know if or when itโ€™ll happen again.โ€

โ€œNot gonna argue with that.โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t think you would. And after five yearsโ€โ€”he paused to kiss meโ€”โ€œIโ€™m not about to waste an opportunity to be with you.โ€

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer currently living in the glamorous and ultra-futuristic metropolis of Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two cats, and a disembodied penguin brain that communicates with her telepathically. In addition to writing smut and disturbing the locals, L.A. is said to be working with the US government to perfect a genetic modification that will allow humans to survive indefinitely on Corn Pops and beef jerky. This is all a cover, though, as her primary leisure activity is hunting down her arch nemesis, erotica author Lauren Gallagher, who is also said to be lurking somewhere in Omaha.

L. A.โ€™s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter (@GallagherWitt).

Blurb

But Daniel and Liam wonโ€™t vanish meekly into the smog. Together, they plan to rip open the hidden corruption that runs the Skyโ€”for vengeance, for justice, and for hope. They strike against the corporations in a daring raid. When everything goes wrong, Daniel must betray his core beliefs to save the man he loves and protect his dangerous secret. Only through courage in the face of deathโ€”or worseโ€”might he and Liam change the world they live in and create something new under the sun.
