Hi Amelia! Welcome to Joyfully Jay! So, to start off, can you tell us about yourself? We know you’re a romance writer. Do you write full time?

I’m a stay-at-home-mom. My son just entered kindergarten this year, and the plan was that once he was in school full-time, which would be next year for the first grade, I would get back out into the job market. So this year what I’m trying to do is generate enough buzz and sales with my writing to make the argument that I don’t have to go out and get a day job to help keep us afloat.  So hopefully I’ll be able to say that this is my day job.

What do you think you would you do if you weren’t an author?

Before I got pregnant with my son, I was in school taking the pre-req courses to transfer to nursing school with the goal of becoming a nurse midwife. I would still really love to do that.

What’s your favorite hobby outside of writing?

Well, I love singing. I also cross-stitch, crochet, and I’m quite a theatre geek.

What was the very first romance novel you read?

Um, I was twelve, and I can’t remember if it was Danielle Taylor’s Savage Ecstasy or Kathleen E. Woodiwiss’s Ashes in the Wind. I read them both about the same time and to this day, I really consider Ashes in the Wind to be a magnificent work, probably Woodiwiss’ best.

I thought, “I could do that!” Within months, I was attempting to write my first romance novel.

Do you believe in Happily Ever After?

I think that happiness usually comes with a cost, and the question of whether or not you get your happy ending rests largely on what that cost is and if you’re willing to pay it. I like icky moral and ethical quandaries. It’s why you see a lot of my stories end on slightly bittersweet notes.

lairds forbidden loverFarm lad Iain Munro knows his love affair with Tavish MacIntyre, future Laird of Creachann-Dubh, is dangerous—discovery could mean disgrace and death. But they’ve been in love since they were boys, and they’ve never been able to resist each other, dishonorable though it is to deceive their families.

Young men now, their sexual explorations have deepened and their love for each other has strengthened. But Iain’s father fears for his eldest son’s future, and Tavish faces dangers and duties of his own: his demanding mother would see him respectably wed, and his interfering sister knows too much—and has schemes of her own.

Facing a lifetime apart, Iain and Tavish must leave their childhoods behind for good as they choose between honor and love, innocence and happiness, and their vows before God and to each other.

The Laird’s Forbidden Lover is available here from Riptide Publishing.

About Amelia C. Gormley

Amelia C. Gormley may seem like anyone else. But the truth is she sings in the shower, dances doing laundry, and writes blisteringly hot M/M erotic romance while her five-year-old is in kindergarten. When she’s not writing, Amelia single-handedly juggles her husband, her son, their home, and the obstacles of life by turning into an everyday superhero. And that, she supposes, is just like anyone else.
