Hi everyone! Today I am super excited to welcome author Amelia C. Gormley to the blog. Amelia is here to talk to us more about her new release, The Laird’s Forbidden Lover. I reviewed this one this morning and just loved it. It combines so many of my favorites: virgin heroes, young love, and men in kilts! Amelia has also brought a great giveaway, so be sure to comment below to enter.

Hi Amelia! Welcome to Joyfully Jay! So, to start off, can you tell us about yourself? We know you’re a romance writer. Do you write full time?
I’m a stay-at-home-mom. My son just entered kindergarten this year, and the plan was that once he was in school full-time, which would be next year for the first grade, I would get back out into the job market. So this year what I’m trying to do is generate enough buzz and sales with my writing to make the argument that I don’t have to go out and get a day job to help keep us afloat. So hopefully I’ll be able to say that this is my day job.
What do you think you would you do if you weren’t an author?
Before I got pregnant with my son, I was in school taking the pre-req courses to transfer to nursing school with the goal of becoming a nurse midwife. I would still really love to do that.
What’s your favorite hobby outside of writing?
Well, I love singing. I also cross-stitch, crochet, and I’m quite a theatre geek.
What was the very first romance novel you read?
Um, I was twelve, and I can’t remember if it was Danielle Taylor’s Savage Ecstasy or Kathleen E. Woodiwiss’s Ashes in the Wind. I read them both about the same time and to this day, I really consider Ashes in the Wind to be a magnificent work, probably Woodiwiss’ best.
I thought, “I could do that!” Within months, I was attempting to write my first romance novel.
Do you believe in Happily Ever After?
I think that happiness usually comes with a cost, and the question of whether or not you get your happy ending rests largely on what that cost is and if you’re willing to pay it. I like icky moral and ethical quandaries. It’s why you see a lot of my stories end on slightly bittersweet notes.
Blurb
Farm lad Iain Munro knows his love affair with Tavish MacIntyre, future Laird of Creachann-Dubh, is dangerous—discovery could mean disgrace and death. But they’ve been in love since they were boys, and they’ve never been able to resist each other, dishonorable though it is to deceive their families.
Young men now, their sexual explorations have deepened and their love for each other has strengthened. But Iain’s father fears for his eldest son’s future, and Tavish faces dangers and duties of his own: his demanding mother would see him respectably wed, and his interfering sister knows too much—and has schemes of her own.
Facing a lifetime apart, Iain and Tavish must leave their childhoods behind for good as they choose between honor and love, innocence and happiness, and their vows before God and to each other.
The Laird’s Forbidden Lover is available here from Riptide Publishing.
About Amelia C. Gormley
Amelia C. Gormley may seem like anyone else. But the truth is she sings in the shower, dances doing laundry, and writes blisteringly hot M/M erotic romance while her five-year-old is in kindergarten. When she’s not writing, Amelia single-handedly juggles her husband, her son, their home, and the obstacles of life by turning into an everyday superhero. And that, she supposes, is just like anyone else.

*sigh* I had so much fun writing Impulse and still have so much love for it. It’s gratifying to hear from people who enjoyed it. Thank you!
Magical sounding story – what a setting.
Please add me to the draw.
Thanks so much. I admit it’s probably a little different than what most people think of when they think of Highland stories, but I felt like there was something magical about it.
The “Laird” in the title kinda shows you want Ms. Gormley is workin’ with. You’ve been warned! Lol, I can’t wait to read an INTERESTING Highlander Romance! Thanks!

LOL Yeah, we weren’t going for subtle with the title. At all.
Liked the review! What time period is the novel set in? I do enjoy a good historical every now and then.
Whenever my husband starts making back to work noises, I start doing housework at night and getting him to clean loos and only start cooking once he’s home – he soon realises its much easier for me to be at home during the day!
The novella is set in the 17th century, so it’s definitely historical.
Right now I’m trying to treat writing as my job. Of course, my job happens when I’m in my pajamas in bed so it can be hard getting other people to treat it like my job. When hubby comes in and flops down on the bed beside me and our son follows and starts climbing all over us, I have to remind them that this is no different than if I came to his office and hopped up on his desk and let the boychild tear around while he’s trying to work.
Very excited to read this one & even more so to see Amelia at Riptide!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy, and I’m really glad to be with Riptide. I have at least two more titles coming out with them between now and January, so definitely stay tuned!
