Nashville Somers has been in love with his fellow model, Ryan Thomas, for a while now, but doesn’t know how to tell him. While at a shoot in Egypt, Nash realizes Ryan’s flirting may finally be leading them to a bedroom. When Ryan takes Nash to a club where they run into the stagehand from their shoot, Ryan’s idea of adding a third to their twosome turns sounds good to both men. Finally Nash will have Ryan, one way or another. But when Saabir leads Nash and Ryan to The City of the Dead, there was no way to know that a simple ménage would change their lives forever.

Cairo Curse is the second book in Geoffrey Knight’s Vampire’s Lair series. As with the first book, Cairo Curse is not a romance. It’s steamy, sexy erotica with vampires and pretty, pretty boys.

So this book is super short. It’s one of those books that I like to read when I’ve just finished a really angst-filled book. It is mind candy – a book I don’t have to think too hard about, no angst riddled plot, and the only real storyline is sex. And for those reasons, I really liked this book.

I enjoyed the characters in this story. Nash, the ex-rent boy turned model, is vulnerable and sweet, but not so innocent. And Ryan, the stereotypical, self-involved model. He cracks me up. They’re both fun. Here are my favorite few lines:

“I think I’m in love with you. Are you in love with me?” The words were out before Nash could stop them.

Ryan’s smiling eyes looked into his, and he shook his head. “No. I’m far too in love with myself, you know that.” But before the heartache even had a chance to set in on Nash’s face, Ryan added, “But I’ll fuck you.”

Knight’s vampires are ever changing in this series. In Cairo Curse, these vampires are a bit scarier and more possessive. They’re meaner, but no less sexy. In this story, we see the world-building through the vampires and through the setting. It’s a dark and scary world.

And finally, I like the way this tale ended. I usually like for everything to be tied up in a neat little bow at the end of the story. But in this book, the author leaves room for assumption (even though it’s quite obvious, at least to me), and it works for this short.

So I liked this mind candy. It’s a short and mindless read. The tale is angst free, easy to read, and very hot. If you’re looking for something to give your brain a rest, or something a little steamy, this is the book.

Note: Cairo Curse is written as part of a series, but the books do not necessarily have to be read in order.
