Hi guys! Today I am really excited to welcome back the fabulous K-lee Klein to Joyfully Jay.  K-lee is here to talk to us more about her new release, Ali’s Intuition.  She has also brought an excerpt to share, as well as a giveaway.  Please join me in giving K-lee a bit welcome!

Hi everyone. Thanks for putting up with me twice in less than a month, and a big thanks for Jay for letting me pimp my new release, Ali’s Intuition. All the misfits are back in this second installment in my Family of Misfits series set on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

I grew up in BC, and we vacation there every year, so it’s a place dear to me heart. If I had my way that’s where I’d be living, as well – in a little cabin by the lake nestled between the majestic mountains. Yep, that’s my ideal living situation, but with Internet, of course. 😉

And speaking of Internet, I’m actually writing this post on a cruise ship as I visit the Martime provinces in Canada so I’m going to keep it short (mostly because Internet is like gold on this ship, or at least it costs as much as gold). I’m doing a give-away for an ebook copy of Ali’s Intuition so just comment on this post to enter. Here’s the blurb and an excerpt for Ali’s story.

Ali’s Intuition – Family of Misfits 2

alis intuition~~If the rough and tumble man at Ali’s door is supposed to be his fate-ordained mate, then he has to wonder what in the Goddess’ name Fate was thinking.~~

Ali has always dreamed of his spirit mate, someone classy, intelligent and romantic, but the man who faints in his doorway is anything but. Kalo is loud and pushy, with hair more suited to a caveman and manners to match—all wrapped up in one big package of you’ve got to be kidding me. Besides, Ali has responsibilities as mama bear to his den of shifters and that’s where he needs to be.

For Kalo, being rejected by his spirit mate won’t be life-threatening. But there’s something about Ali that intrigues him and touches his soul. He’s ready to offer his already-engaged heart with no strings attached, for a chance to change Ali’s mind.

Excerpt

Once he was finally alone with the unconscious Kalo—and Anca had been dragged kicking and protesting from the room—Ali stood back, arms wrapped around his waist. He sucked his bottom lip between his teeth and gnawed at it while his gaze traveled over Kalo’s body.

Kristof had been right, the guy was really big, at least three or four inches taller than Ali’s own six feet. He was dressed all in black—possibly a family fashion statement if Nicu’s wardrobe was any indication. His full-length leather coat wasn’t really up to a brisk spring day let alone winter in Canada. Underneath the coat was a button-up shirt with the collar of a t-shirt sticking out from beneath—at least he knew how to layer.

His jeans—black of course—were the kind manufactured to look retro, so tight they made it perfectly clear he dressed to the right, and very nicely at that. Of course, that wasn’t the sort of think Ali noticed on a regular basis, despite the sheen of perspiration under his nose. Thick-soled biker boots completed the look and must have added at least an inch to Kalo’s already towering frame. He dressed more like a teenager trying to impress his emo crowd than a grown-ass man—in Ali’s opinion, at least.

His nose was long and straight with a tiny bump over the bridge, perhaps from a fight or accident. His lips were full, and though he didn’t have a lip piercing he did have one of those horrible chin things shining from beneath the scruff. Ali had never understood the purpose of such a piercing, except to the piercee look like a thug. Kalo had a lot of piercings actually, and Ali wondered if there were any hidden ones beneath all the black of his clothes. The image stuck in his head but he wasn’t sure if he liked it or not… much like the man lying before him.

Ali had never been opposed to men wearing make-up—even indulged in a little light foundation and sparkly liner or shadow himself on occasion—but the thick line of eyeliner, jet black mascara and dark purple eye shadow was a little over-the-top even for him. The combination made Kalo look like some kind of sinister movie vampire, and Ali couldn’t imagine anyone walking around like that unless they lived in L.A., New York, or possibly downtown Vancouver. On wholesome, hippie-land, free-loving Vancouver Island, Kalo would be the talk of the town… well, of Ali’s town anyhow.

The only hint of color Kalo wore was an abundance of silver adornments—a big belt buckle with a fierce-looking wolf’s head partially hidden by the untucked front of Kalo’s shirt, at least three thick, chunky chains hung around his neck each displaying a different silver pendent, and a thicker one clipped to Kalo’s pocket and dangling over his leg.

Besides the chin piercing, one of Kalo’s eyebrows was pierced with a silver ring and both ears were highly silverized by varying sizes of hoops—definite proof that the old folktales about shifters and silver were just that… tales. If humans only knew how much of the old legends and lore they actually got wrong they might start concentrating on their own frailties and leave the paranormals to themselves.

As Ali scrutinized Kalo’s appearance, he realized he was exactly the type of man Lucius had been drawn to before Nicu dropped into their lives. He’d always preferred the tough, rugged, freaky ones he met online, although Ali didn’t recall any as big as Kalo. Ali was pretty sure Lucius liked to keep the upper hand, and alpha position, in his one-night hook-ups. Ali had followed him on many occasions to make sure he was safe with whatever current fuck buddy he had at the time. Kalo was undoubtedly Lucius’ past taste, but definitely not Ali’s past, present or future—at least he couldn’t see it ever happening.

He wasn’t sure if he was happy, sad or merely still in shock about Kalo’s sudden arrival. It wasn’t his intention to judge Kalo’s appearance, and the man himself, without actually having spoken to him, but a tendril of disappointment wiggled through his heart and into his aching head. The two were joined by a nagging twinge of suspicion when Ali looked at Kalo. He didn’t know why, but for some reason, he didn’t trust the man who’d been suddenly thrust into his life.

Ali had obviously never seen a picture of his intended spirit mate, but Nicu had been right, he’d dreamt extensively about him since he was an adolescent. There had never been a full image, just tiny glimpses of dark purple eyes—almost a shade of eggplant that he’d certainly never seen in real life—and of hair that may have been dark, but definitely less massive than Kalo’s mess.

He’d always felt an overwhelming elegance to his dreams as well, the soft whispers of classical or perhaps jazz music playing in the background while muted colors and well-dressed men and women faded in and out of the scene. There was never any rhyme or reason to Ali’s nighttime adventures, never any actual face-to-face drama or contact with the man he’d come to believe was his fated mate; indeed other than eyes and hair, he’d never even seen the man’s face.

Nonetheless, he had always been positive he could pick out his intended in a crowd. Long, disheveled hair with random braids and a face abundant with piercings would not have occurred to him in a million years. And that wasn’t even taking into consideration what looked to be a tattoo peeking out from under Kalo’s shirt. Ali was sure it wasn’t the only one either.

Could he imagine having a handfasting ceremony with this pierced, tattooed man? A pang of distaste shot through Ali’s center as he contemplated the hot mess on his couch. The answer was a resounding no.
