Hello everyone! Today I am so excited to welcome the fabulous Brien Michaels to the blog.  Brien is here to talk about his book As Long As You’re Mine and share an excerpt and a great character interview. He also has brought a great giveaway.  So please join me in giving Brien a big welcome!

Jay! *Tackle hugs* I haven’t seen you since…well, since our last get together! Thanks so much for having me on. *Smooches*

To all the readers, I’m so glad you’re joining me today on the first stop of the Sexy College Studs promotional tour. I started writing the first book in the Sexy College Studs series, As Long As You’re Mine, for a submission call about the men who buy rent boys (male prostitutes, for people like me who had no idea what a rent boy was, at first). But instead of doing your typical prostitution story, I decided I wanted my guy to do something different. And the idea came to me like a bolt of lightning: he’d work for a phone sex line. Technically, the guys that work for the company are still being paid for their services, so I think it works.

At any rate, since this is the first stop of the tour, I decided to sit down with Zac Anderson. He’s the geeky, yet sexy Adult Phone Entertainer of book one.

Brien: Hey, Zac. How are you today?

Zac: I’m doing well. How about you?

B: Can’t complain, can’t complain. So I just have a few questions for you. I promise it won’t take long.

Z: Oh, no worries. They cancelled classes today because of all the snow, so I’ve got all the time in the world.

B: That’s great. So let’s dive right in. What’s your favorite part about working for Sexy College Studs?

Z: That’s easy. I’m an actor at heart, so any chance I have to slip into a character I take. The guys that call me…they all have different wants and different needs and it’s my job to fulfill those as best I can. Even if they take me out of my comfort zone, I can’t let them know that. My job is to make sure they’re satisfied. Plain and simple.

B: I can understand that. So what’s your least favorite part?

Z: Sometimes they take it a little too far. I mean, we all get guys who make uncomfortable; we find a way to deal with them, though. I haven’t gotten anyone really super crazy and I hope I don’t, but I know people who’ve been seriously scarred by callers. To the point they’ve quit altogether because they were being harassed.

B: That’s horrible. Well I hope you never have to experience that.

Z: Me too. I mean, we all knew going in that the job comes with its share of crazies. But you never want it to be you, you know?

B: I certainly wouldn’t. So, now it’s time for a little more probing. Do you believe in Happily Ever Afters?

Z: Of course I do. There’s someone for everyone. Even guys like me.

B: What kind of guy are you?

Z: The kind that doesn’t really do much. I go to class and do my homework and work. I’ve got a few friends, but they go out and party while I hang back in my apartment and listen to showtunes, or something. I’m a little awkward so I don’t expect to have many dates while I’m in college, but once I’m out the world is my playground.

B:  So do you have a crush right now? Do you think the two of you will ever hookup post college?

Z: I should have known that was coming. Wow. Um…There’s this really cute guy in my acting class this semester. His name is Wade and…God, he’s so talented. Every time he gets up to perform I’m in awe because you can see how dedicated he is to his craft. That’s what’s sexy to me. Knowing exactly what you want to do and pursuing it. Even if you don’t get it, just having the courage to go after is with everything you have is such a turn-on. As far as hookups go…I doubt it. I’m about 95% certain he’s straight so I’m not going to hold my breath. But I’m allowed to look, right?

B: Absolutely. Hey, Zac, thanks so much for sitting down with me today.

Z: No problem. Thanks for having me.

B: I know you have a midterm you’ve got to prepare for, so I’m gonna let you get to that.

Z: Yeah, it was supposed to be today, so thanks for to the snow, I’ve got another day to rehearse.

B: Well I wish you the best of luck. And I’ll see you soon.

Z: Okay. See you.

Blurb

as long as you're mineWho isn’t a little bi-curious in college?

Wade Criss has always known there was something a little…off about him, but he hasn’t been able to admit it until now. He wants to sleep with another man. But not just any man. He wants his geeky, sexy acting classmate Zac.

Zac has been watching Wade all semester, waiting for the moment the other man would renounce his straight boy ways and fall into his bed. But when the two of them are paired together for their final exam, Zac isn’t sure how to react. What if Wade finds out his secret?

Zac is an Adult Phone Entertainer, and it’s that knowledge that turns Wade on more than anything. After all, there’s nothing hotter than the anonymity of phone sex. But it doesn’t matter how hot the sex is; everything always gets more complicated once feelings get involved. And Zac and Wade’s relationship is far from the exception.

Excerpt

Thanks so much for hanging out with me everybody! As a treat, here’s an excerpt from As Long As You’re Mine.

Zac’s heart raced, and he reread the name scrawled across the top of his paper several more times, hoping it would change. God, why did Cassie have to hate him so much? Not only had she given him a song to perform from the most amazing musical ever; it was by far the most intimate song in said musical, and she’d paired him with the hottest guy in the entire class. He didn’t think he could do this.

He’d been getting ready to march down to Cassie’s office and ask for a new partner, but when he looked up, Wade was strolling toward him, hands stuffed in his pockets. Zac swallowed, his breath deserting him as he drank in Wade’s muscles, the plaits in his hair, the darkened caramel complexion of his skin.

“Hey,” Wade said, looking almost as nervous as Zac felt.

“Hi.” Hi? Seriously? He couldn’t think of anything cooler to say than hi? He was such a fucking dork.

“You got a few? We could go over this.” Wade held up their song lamely.

“We’ve got a few weeks,” Zac said, shrugging. “We don’t have to do this now if you don’t want.” He stood up and pulled his bag onto his shoulder.

“Well, I don’t know anything about this. Like at all. So we can at least talk about it now and start rehearsing it later.”

“Sure.” Zac nodded and led the way out of the classroom, his stomach in knots.

“What time’s your next class?” Wade asked once they were out on the quad.

“Not till five. I’m more of a morning person, so I try to get all my classes then, when I can.”

“I’ve got another hour, so let’s talk.”

“Do you know anything about the play at all?”

Wade shook his head. “Only that it’s about the Wicked Witch of the West. And what you did earlier.”

Heat flooded Zac’s cheeks. He hadn’t thought Cassie would go for him turning a song into a monologue, but she hadn’t stopped him once he’d gotten started, so he just kept going. The whole performance, he’d put his focus on different parts of the room so he wasn’t staring at Wade the entire time.

“Yeah. It’s about the Wicked Witch. Well, it’s more so about how she’s not as wicked as everyone made her out to be. How she’s just this really clever, idealistic young girl who wants to make a difference in the world.”

“That sounds interesting.”

“Oh, it’s amazing. There are flying monkeys and giant talking heads and love triangles, and at one point she…flies.” Wade eyed Zac, this lopsided grin painted on his face. “Sorry,” Zac said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “I get kind of excited sometimes.”

“No, it’s cool.” Wade chuckled. “So, uh…where does the song come in?”

“It’s what they sing when Elphaba and Fiyero finally admit they love each other. It’s so intimate and can be really amorous if the actors do it right.”

“Really what?”

Zac stopped, cursing himself. “Amorous. It can be a really sexy, sensual moment if the actors do it right. Not that we have to play it that way or anything,” he added quickly.

“I’m fine with playing it like that if you are.”

Zac stared. “Seriously?”

“Yeah. You heard what Cassie said. It’s our job as actors to make her believe it. But we get extra credit if we make her feel it.” Silence fell between them for a moment. “I mean, it’s just for the grade, right?”

“Of course,” Zac said. “For the grade.”

He wasn’t sure he could pull something like this off just for points. The way he wanted to play out this scene would involve a lot of touching. And kissing. He didn’t think he could kiss Wade through weeks of rehearsing and feel nothing. And he damn sure couldn’t kiss him in front of their entire class and deal with the ridicule afterward.

“Hey, I gotta run back to my room,” Wade said. “Do you wanna start practicing tonight? After you get out of class?”

Holy shit, this was moving faster than he’d thought it would. But he couldn’t bring himself to turn down Wade’s invitation. “Sure. I can do that.”

“Cool. Do you wanna meet at my apartment, or do you have one, or are you in a dorm, or what?”

Zac could feel the corner of his mouth turn up in a grin. It was cute, how nervous Wade seemed. “I have an apartment. We can meet there if you want. It’s up to you.”

“I think that might be better. Mine is barely big enough to hold me.”

They decided to meet up at eight, and Zac programmed Wade’s number in his phone. He texted Wade the address, still not entirely certain how they’d gotten to this point. Wade stretched before he sauntered away, and Zac had to fight not to drool. Wade’s shirt had risen a little, revealing a treasure trail and the beginnings of abs Zac would give his left nut to see the rest of.

Not believing his luck, Zac headed back to his room to study before his econ midterm. But once he’d gotten inside the building, he couldn’t focus on anything other than Wade. This would be the weirdest, most intense seven weeks of his life. He could feel it.

He was about to go out on the balcony for a little air when his other phone rang. He eyed it wearily. Two and a half more semesters until he could be done with this crap. He picked up the phone, and the name Big Stan glared up at him. He couldn’t ignore one of his regular customers, even if said customer was a kinky son of a bitch. Sighing, he answered the phone and went to work.
