fused by fireMichael prides himself on being the man that everyone can depend on until one of his firefighters is severely wounded on the job. Will he be allowed to process the situation alone? Not when a loud and persistent Simon Winters shows up on his doorstep. The man hasn’t met a boundary he didn’t skip across.

Simon has had the biggest crush on Lieutenant Firefighter Michael Donovan since the first day he saw him. Which just happened to be at an interview for a job to work as a firefighter. Before his desire to lick the gruff older man from head to toe affects his work, Simon transfers over to being a paramedic. Just when he’s begun to build a life that doesn’t include hot shower fantasies of Michael, the object of his angst is thrust into his path.

All too quickly, Simon begins to barrel through Michael’s defenses and dig up the desires Michael has fought so hard to hide. As passions flare out of control, tragedies collide from every side. Michael’s struggle to keep Simon at a distance starts to crumble beneath the weight of the secrets that Simon is hiding. Will Michael be able to protect Simon when he needs it the most or will he lose Simon forever?

“I don’t want you here out of pity,” Simon murmured.

“Believe me when I say what I feel for you has never been pity.” Michael hoped Simon could hear the sincerity behind the statement.

Simon studied him with a narrow gaze. “Fine, let’s get this over with.”

Michael touched the edges of Simon’s dark blue shirt and pulled it over his head. Michael’s jaw clenched as each inch of beautiful pale skin was revealed. He ached for a completely different reason now.

Words tumbled through his brain, but he couldn’t seem to bring any of them to life. He wanted to soothe Simon but had no idea how. On the job he’d comforted his fair share of scared survivors, but with Simon, his feelings were deeply involved. How had it taken him so long to realize how much Simon meant to him?

Simon’s head bowed. Michael put his finger under Simon’s chin and tilted his face up. “Don’t hide from me.”

“But—”

“No, you have to know what you did was brave.” He grinned. “Stop dawdling and shimmy out of those clothes.”

Simon chuckled. “Trying to get me naked again?”

Michael shrugged. “See it how you will.”

Simon unbuttoned his pants and slid them down. Michael bit back a moan when he saw Simon had gone commando.

“Is there a reason you went sans boxer briefs?” He felt a flare of jealousy.

“Laundry day. You see, while I may be fantastic at doing your chores, not so much my own.” Simon blushed red again from neck to ears.

Michael placed his hands on Simon’s arms, rubbing them. There was no stopping the stiffening of his cock or the way his body heated, being near a naked Simon. The man was too sexy for his own good.

Michael adjusted the knobs of the shower and tested the water temperature. He didn’t think he’d ever seen Simon so docile. When the water was warm enough, he nudged Simon to get in under the spray, then stripped to his boxers before climbing in after him.

Simon raised his brows as the water drenched them both. “You know, I can shower alone.” The words didn’t hold much conviction; if anything, there was a level of humor in them. “And isn’t it odd to shower in your boxers?”

Michael soaped a cloth and ran it gently over Simon’s flesh. “Yeah, well, I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”

“I don’t remember you wearing boxers in the shower at work,” Simon remarked. “Actually it was one of my favorite things to do—peek at your amazing ass.”

“It will be more of a challenge now if you want to check out my goods,” Michael teased.

Simon glanced down and gave Michael his first full grin since Michael had been there. “I can see something pretty clearly right now.”

Michael groaned. The cock that currently tented the front of his boxers couldn’t be helped. He was in the shower with Simon, after all, the man’s amazing body before him, sleek and wet.

“Don’t tempt me,” he chastised and continued to methodically clean every inch of Simon’s skin. Even the seriousness of the situation couldn’t keep his cock from pulsing. His body had no sense when it came to the small man. That much had been made perfectly clear when he’d fucked him into his couch.

“I’ve been trying to tempt you for years, and it hasn’t worked until recently.” Simon squinted at Michael through his wet bangs.

“Turn around,” Michael said. “Had I known, I’d have been greatly tempted. But you did work for me, and add to that you are a hell of a lot younger.” It was easier to talk to the back of Simon’s head.

“Since I don’t work for you anymore, that leaves the age issue.”

Michael lathered his hands and began to shampoo Simon’s hair. The rich scent of vanilla filled the air. His dick jerked. This was the smell he always associated with Simon and that had recently become a part of his fantasies.

“I’m sixteen years older than you,” Michael pointed out.

“And?” Simon chuckled. “I know from experience that everything is functioning quite well.”

“Right now,” Michael muttered, voicing just one of his many fears about being with a younger man. “The difference may not matter to you today, but five, ten, fifteen years down the road?”

“We’ll check to make sure your insurance covers erectile-dysfunction medication.”
