Today I am so pleased to welcome SE Jakes to Joyfully Jay. SE Jakes has come to talk to us about her latest release, Running Wild. She has also brought along…. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

RunningWild_TourBanner1

Thanks so much to Joyfully Jay for hosting me on the tour for Running Wild: Havoc Book 1. This is the start of a brand new series, with different heroes for each book and HEAs at the end of each book. Sean Rush and Ryker stole my heart a long time ago, and I’m excited for you guys to meet all of them.

For help in coming up with blog posts, I asked for help from my Facebook Group—SE’s Dirty Deeds. Here’s one of their questions:

You’ve mentioned a few times that this book is pretty different from other stuff you’ve written. Can you tell us more about that?

I’ve been telling readers that this book is a bit of a departure from my other stuff—not a purposeful one, because we all know I can’t control my characters—but because of the first person narrative, the single pov through the entire book, and the tone. It’s also got alpha males, motorcycles, fast cars, hot sex and lots of cursing. So yes, in that way, a typical SEJ book.

And you know what? I’m really damned pleased with it.

First of all, I’m thrilled to bring you a series that has standalones, with HEAs at the end of every book. I know that I have two series (Hell or High Water and Dirty Deeds) happening that both have cliffhangers (and a promised HEA at the end of each series, of course, because hello romance!)…so, like my Men Of Honor series, each of the Havoc books will give you a sense of completion for the main couple you’ll meet in each book.

The thing is, I’ve always written books that make me happy—I always say, if I don’t love them, no one will. This book makes me gooey happy. It’s over the top deliciousness. It’s got a hero you want to shake. And another (or two or three) hero you want to do lots of other things with 🙂

I’m contracted for three books right now, but there’s obviously plenty of room for growth, and I’ve got lots of characters stepping in, wanting a story of their own (as well as readers asking—Casey, anyone?)

So for sure, this book is different. I think it had to be. I think that’s why Sean finally started bugging me for the first time in ten years (because I really did write the first several chapters back in 2003)…there was no way I could bring in another RS series. Not with Prophet standing over my shoulder. In this case, different works on many levels. Plus, I do like surprising people. (Shawnie says I gave her book shock :))

Did I give you guys book shock?

Sean Rush is an adrenaline junkie. That’s why he was in the Army, why he steals and races classic muscle cars . . . and why he can’t stay away from bad boy Ryker, a Havoc Motorcycle Club lieutenant. Fortunately, Ryker can’t seem to stay away from Sean—he’s spent the last eight months breaking into Sean’s apartment and stealing into his bed, leaving Sean physically satisfied but increasingly restless.

Sean has always avoided relationships. He likes to come and go without being controlled. And Ryker is possibly the most controlling man he’s ever known. Still, he finds that he wants more from Ryker than their silent nighttime encounters.

Then one of Sean’s thefts goes bad, and Ryker’s protective instincts kick into overdrive. He takes Sean to the Havoc compound, determined to keep him safe. But Sean’s past threatens the safety of Havoc—and everything Ryker holds dear. Worse, Ryker’s hiding secrets of his own. Soon it’s obvious that the adrenaline rush can’t keep them together anymore. But maybe love can.
