  • Guest Post: Writers Online Network and WON Radio by Wt Prater

Today I am so pleased to welcome Wt Prater, Executive Producer of the Writers Online Network (WON). Wt has come to talk to us abut the Writers Online Network and WON Radio.

I am super excited to be appearing on WON Radio this Saturday for their first episode of Blogfully Yours! Check out details at the end of the post!

WON-logo1Welcome Wt!

Thank you, Jay for the opportunity to do a guest spot.

So first off, can you tell my readers more about the Writers Online Network?

Sure. Writers Online Network (or WON as I call it) was created a little more than a year ago. My evil mastermind of a partner, Jennifer Taylor, had been brewing an idea in her head and offered me the chance to be a part of it. I love the idea of a net for authors, editors, publishers, and others to use. When the world won’t catch us, we simply catch each other. Yay support! And that is what I think of WON!

One of the big parts of WON is the radio shows. Can you tell us more about your radio programming and how it works?

WON Radio serves as the voice of WON. I wanted to offer a different way for authors to reach out to potential readers, but I also wanted to create shows for editors and publishers to get a voice. My end goal is to make sure everyone feels included and has the opportunity to network together.

You have lots of different shows through WON Radio. I see that you have one focused on BDSM, GLBT and erotica called Write on the Edge. Can you tell my readers more about that one? Any others that you think my readers might be particularly interested in?

Write On the Edge is my baby. I started that show when I was with Marketing For Romance Writers and it was my first Blog Talk Radio project. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love talking to other authors – picking their brains about everything I can. When I realized what a huge task Executive Producer of WON Radio was going to be, I asked my dear friend Vicktor Alexander to take over, and he has been killing it since then. Write On the Edge is one of WON Radio’s flagships.

How often to the radio programs run? Where can readers find the schedule? And how do they listen to the shows?

Write On the Edge and Freshly Booked are both weekly, all the other shows are monthly. The easiest way to find out about the shows is to go to www.writersonlinenetwork.org/wonradio That lists all of our shows, or anyone can follow us at www.blogtalkradio.com/writersonlinenetwork and they will receive email updates with all of our broadcasts listed. The thing I love about working with BlogTalkRadio.com is that it allows people to listen LIVE, call in with questions or comments, and it allows everyone to listen to the archives of out shows anytime.

How do you all decide on your guests or individual show topics? Is there an opportunity for readers or authors/publishers to get involved?

Different shows focus on different things. Ask the Editors allows writers to ask editors questions, The Write Market will allow questions about marketing, Then we use Q&A formatting on our author showcase shows like Write on the Edge, Freshly Booked (brand new authors), Writing Real (non-fiction authors) and And the Rest is History (historical authors). Taste Test is similar, but because it features anthologies, it’s more of a panel discussion, loud and crazy style. And we are starting reader’s roundtable discussion called Whatcha Reading? as well as an announcement show called Inspiration Calls, when we spotlight special calls and publishers. We are trying to incorporate all different kinds of formatting, and we are always open to new shows with different formats, especially “out of the box” ideas.

Is there anything else you would like to tell folks about WON?

WON is a work in progress. WON Radio is celebrating its one year anniversary in August! And while we are grateful for the focus on WON Radio over the last year, we are looking forward to the new developments in the network. For instance, we are opening our blog in conjunction with our anniversary celebration, which will feature a lot of crossover from WON Radio. I am just excited that I get to work with Jennifer on this. She is a wonderful friend and the best possible partner one can imagine. We also have current staff positions open at WON, not just with WON Radio. We have many projects that are in development and would love to invite others to get involved with us! So check out www.writersonlinenetwork.org and find out what you can do with the network around you!
