Today I am so pleased to welcome Sue Brown to Joyfully Jay. Sue has come to talk to us about her latest release, The New Wolf. She has also brought along a great tour wide giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
What inspired this book?
Uh, cowboys!! Since I read Chris Owen’s Bareback (my very first M/M book) I’ve been obsessed by cowboys. I know it seems bizarre that a Londoner should be obsessed by cowboys but I am. The only cowboys we have are men who drive around in vans and over-charge people for shoddy work. It doesn’t have the romance, the mystique of cowboys on ranches. So yes, cowboys. And shifters. That’s J.L. Langley’s fault. Without Reservation was the second book I read. What was the first M/M book you read?
Excerpt
“Young males get kicked out of the pack. Unless they form a pack of their own, they are vulnerable.”
Joe caught the edge in Cal’s voice. “Would you have been kicked out?”
“Maybe.”
They got into the truck, and Joe dragged Cal into his arms, heedless of the outside world. “You’re part of my pack now, Callum Pope.”
“Thank you, Joe.”
Joe frowned as Cal bared his throat and tilted his neck. “What are you doing?”
“You’ve invited me into your pack. I’m submitting to you.”
“Uh, I don’t think so. You’re part of my human pack. There’ll be no submitting involved. We’re partners.”
Cal looked unhappy. “I’m an omega. I have to submit.”
Joe placed one finger under Cal’s chin and kissed him softly. “Partners,” he insisted.
Blurb
The only good predator is a dead one, as far as Joe Lowther is concerned.
That is until the day he shoots a wolf, only to watch the animal turn into a naked Callum Pope. Cal is being hunted by a group of humans who eradicate shifter packs for sport.
Joe makes a decision to help Cal and discovers a deeper connection with the young shifter. One which he’d like to explore. If they live that long.
Bio
Sue Brown is owned by her dog and two children. When she isn’t following their orders, she can be found at university listening to lecturers discuss long-dead theologians. In her head, however, she’s plotting how to get her cowboys into bed together; she just hopes the lecturer doesn’t ask her any questions.
Sue discovered M/M erotica at the time she woke up to find two men kissing on her favorite television series. The series was boring; the kissing was not. She may be late to the party, but she’s made up for it since, writing fan fiction until she was brave enough to venture out into the world of original fiction.

Welcome Sue! I have heard so much about you but have not had the pleasure of reading one of your books yet. I think The Last Wolf is going on my TBR list for sure!
Thank you, Jason.
The book sounds really great it’s on my TBR list. The first M/M book I read was “42 Days” by Willa Okati it was a great little story and I’ve rarely read an M/F since.
ShirleyAnn(at)speakman40(dot)freeserve(dot)co(dot)uk
I haven’t read an MF since the days when they didn’t go below the neck.
Hi Sue! Awww, I want Cal! He sounds so sweet and troubled, who wouldn’t want to protect him?
I couldn’t tell you what my very first M/M book I read was but I do remember The Front Runner by Patricia Nell Warren. That books has stayed with me throughout the years and I very much recommend it.
After dipping my toes in the M/M genre I’ve never gone back to ‘the others’. I’m a totally faithful reader since.
I must read The Front Runner. It comes up time and again.
Sounds like a good read.
Thank you, Cornelia.
YAY! New Sue!!! Can’t wait to read it!
Happy reading!
Nice cover! Sounds good, I’d love to read this.
I love the cover from Meredith Russell.
I just love the cover! The book sounds great as well.
Meredith did a great cover.
This sounds like a really good book. I’ve enjoyed everything else I’ve read by Ms. Brown – especially the Morning Report series.
Thank you, Renee.
I have been waiting to read this. This one sounds really good.
Thank you, Candice.
This sounds great, I am a fan of Sue’s books.
Thank you *hugs*
Sounds like a really good read. I love shifter books, they are so protective.
I like the protectiveness as well.
My first m/m was A Red-Tainted Silence by Carolyn Gray – a rock star story that had all kinds of stuff going on but I loved it. Not too long after I read the two you mentioned along with the Adrien English series and was officially hooked. No more het romance for me 🙂 I’ve become a big fan of shifter stories – throw in a cowboy and it’s going on my TBR list.
It took me ages to read the Adrien English stories but now I love them.
This sounds great. Loved the excerpt!
Thank you, Antonia.
A lovely new series and book from Sue Brown and its a paranormal one with shifters, wolf ones, yay, one my favourite types 🙂 ! Mary Calmes was probably my first MM read then JL Langley and then TA Chase, RJ Scott’s Texas series, cowboys yeehaw and yes I am another UK reader who loves cowboys 🙂 thank you for this giveaway 😀
We Brits love the cowboys. And Mary Calmes is one of my favourites.
Shifter stories are my absolute favorite stories to read. I love the idea of meeting a destined mate.
I’ve been hooked in shifters by JL Langley, Bailey Bradford and Kim Dare.
My first mm book was Beautiful Monster (Paperback version of Monster, Zombie and Minder) by Joely Skye. I was soooo hooked….
Shortly after I found Ally Blue, Chris Owens and JL Langley. I think that was 6 (or 7) years ago. Since then het-romances are very rare on my TBR-pile…….=:)))
Once we find M/M we stay forever.
I started reading M/M in fanfiction, and I read a ton of it! I can’t remember what the first “real” book I read was, but I do remember staying up really late reading Ann Somerville’s Kei’s Gift (and the rest of the series) back when they were still free. I own them now, because they’re just too good to pass up.
I was in two fandoms, plus a few that I occasionally read.
Hmm, it sort of depends on your definition of m/m. The first LGBT books I read were David Leddick’s MY WORST DATE (not technically a romance per se, though a relationship is involved that goes awry) and one about a male prostitute called TRICKS (I remember thinking seventeen vignettes got repetitive). The first actual m/m book was Marie Sexton’s BETWEEN SINNERS AND SAINTS. There was a lot of music and hockey fanfic in between…
I was in two fandoms before this. Torchwood and Supernatural.
I like their wildness and loyalty!
I think my very first m/m was Maurice by EM Forster, if that counts.
For the Rafflecopter question, I like wolf shifters for their loyalty.
Thanks for the post and the contest!
