Today I am so pleased to welcome Eva Lefoy to Joyfully Jay. Eva has come to talk to us about her latest release, Darkest Flowers. She has also brought along a copy to give away. Please join me in giving Eva a big welcome!

Happy almost Halloween!

I’m excited to be here for my first time and I’ve brought with me my vampire from MLR Press. I thought while I had him here, I’d play with him a little. Heh. So I wrote a little ditty exclusive for Jay’s readers. It’s not a deleted scene it’s an extra one. Enjoy!

More about me later.

Deleted Scene

“Wait. Don’t go.”

Henri paused on the way to the door, but didn’t turn around. Turning back would mean… staying. “Look, Ambrose…I…”

“Need to go?” Soft shuffling footsteps crept up behind him. Ambrose’s cool hand grasped his shoulder. “If you go now, Henri, I’ll die.”

Stunned, anxiety raced through him. Die? Ambrose would actually die? He turned his head, saw the long black hair framing Ambrose’s now pink-tinted face. Pink, because they’d had sex and Ambrose had bitten him. Pink, because he was filled with Henri’s blood. The sight turned him on, made him feel as though Ambrose was his, even though deadly. So terribly deadly. “I thought you were already dead? Technically, anyway.”

The vampire’s lips did a little sideways dance, ending in a wide smile. “Sort of. I could explain it to you, but it would take too much time.”

“You’d rather bite me and get it over with?” He waved a hand around them at the flowers. “Leave me sucked dry of all but the barest essence like your former lovers?”

Ambrose gasped in a breath.

“Oh yes. I’ve figured it out. I know what these plants truly are, where they came from. They’re men you killed with your fangs.”

“Lovers,” Ambrose whispered. “I loved them all, Henri.”

“Just like you want to love me.” Despite hating the very thought of death, Henri turned and let Ambrose snuggle into his embrace. With his lips so close, Henri fought the urge to lower his mouth and kiss him. To take the offered love he so badly wanted.

Ambrose shook his head and that dark curtain of hair swayed to and fro. “No. I’m asking you for something different. To stay with me…”

“I can’t.” The words felt final, they fell like a heavy cement door between them. But to his own ears they were flimsy as gossamer. Utterly see-through. A lie.

There was precious little in the world outside this greenhouse he cared about. School was over. Jack was long gone., probably with a new, younger man. He had no job prospects and didn’t relish the idea of looking for one in his scarred condition. Who’d hire him to teach with a face so badly burned? Images of the forest fire slammed into his mind, unbidden and his body temperature began to rise. Each passing second it rose higher, and he knew soon it would spiral out of control. Sweat beaded on his forehead.

“Henri,” Ambrose said, cupping his balls through his jeans. “You need me. Let me… let me help you.”

He groaned out a word that was supposed to be “No,” but instead came out a desirous plea.

Ambrose dropped to his knees, his lithe fingers undoing Henri’s zipper. In a few seconds, he had Henri’s cock free.  “I can help you, Henri. Please trust me.”

“Ambrose. I—” Gravity took over, burying his protest. His hand fell to Ambrose’s head, but instead of pushing it away, he grasped the back of his neck and pulled his mouth to his aching erection. Instantly the coolness of Ambrose’s lips and tongue eased the heat and made his crown leak. He wanted to come all over those chilly pink lips. Watch them swallow him down and see the vampire’s throat expand to take him in. God, why was he thinking like this? I should be leaving but I can’t. I can’t.

“Henri.” When Ambrose opened his mouth, his fangs gleamed.

Despite himself, body betraying his sanity, he shoved his cock roughly into the vampire’s mouth. The scrape of fangs along his tender flesh fed an itch that begged to be scratched. When his swollen head forced its way down Ambrose’s throat, he came, flooding the tight channel with wave after wave of his pleasure. Nerves shivering from the intensity of his release, he barely noticed Ambrose pull back, letting Henri’s still-hard cock dangle untouched in front of him. But he knew what was coming.

Ambrose smiled before he sank his teeth into Henri’s thigh. The satisfied moan he made as Henri’s blood coated his tongue sent Henri’s rapture to the stars. Yes, he wanted this. Ambrose. His bite, no matter how bad it got or even if it could kill him. He wouldn’t leave. Damn it all, he’d stay.
