Today I am so pleased to welcome Sophie Bonaste to Joyfully Jay. Sophie has come to talk to us about the very special Kickass Anthology, an anthology developed by multiple authors and for which all proceeds go to benefit author Eric Arvin. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving Sophie a big welcome!

Kickass Banner

Hello everyone! My name is Sophie Bonaste and I am here at Joyfully Jay today to talk to everyone about a brand-new anthology. But before I begin I want to thank Jay for letting my guest post here today.
Earlier this year, I was contacted by Kate Pavelle. She, like so many of us, was touched by the plight of Eric Arvin, and wanted to do her part to help. Kate came up with idea to write an anthology all about strength. It made sense, after all, seeing how strong Eric (and TJ) are during this entire thing. Kate gave all of her authors free reign to write whatever kind of stories they wished in any genre at any length as long as the main character shows great strength against a great obstacle and, well, in short, kicks some ass.

My story in the anthology is called The Janiman. It is a science fiction story set on Janix, a three-mooned planet in the Milky Way. Xan has always enjoyed his time of Janix. He has great parents, lives in nice apartment and, best of all, he has a wonderful boyfriend named Jace. But soon, Xan must face the dreaded Janiman, the dreaded coming of age test on Janix. If he passes, Xan will be welcomed into Janix as a full adult. But if he fails, he will lose everything and everyone he loves.

Everyone around him believes that he will pass, but Xan isn’t so sure. Though he is smart, he is small and weak. The Janiman, widely known as a test of strength, is something Xan isn’t sure he can succeed at. But when Xan gets into the Janiman, he realizes that if he ever wants to have the life he has always dreamed of, he is going to have to overcome his biggest test yet.

I am so proud of this story and I can’t wait for everyone to read it. This entire anthology is packed full of amazing stories that will inspire you to conquer anything that comes your way. It’s even illustrated! And the best part, all of the proceeds go directly to Eric as he continues to recover. You can get your copy from Amazon now at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QU9GBXK.

Thank you so much again to Jay and I hope that all of you reading this pick up a copy of this wonderful anthology as we work to help Eric and TJ start 2015 the right way.

Blurb

Kickass cover 3An illustrated anthology of LGBT stories that inspire!

Against bad odds, he persevered. Wit, grit, and guile pulverized his scary opponent into a sad pile of dust.

Eric Arvin is Kickass.

Even a kickass hero needs a hand from a secondary character, and Eric Arvin needs that extra power boost right now. This anthology is a volunteer effort organized by Eric’s fans and fellow writers in order to raise funds and help cover the cost of his high-tech recovery. His wicked sense of humor is intact, but his body needs a bit of assistance.

These stories are meant to inspire. They’re a warm hug, a wave from afar, a wink and a nod. Discover new authors and graphic artists as you, too, get revved up to slay whatever ails you!

Note: KICKASS ANTHOLOGY was produced in order to raise funds for the medical recovery of our friend and colleague, author Eric Arvin. All artwork, both written and graphic, was donated free of charge. All proceeds will go directly to Eric Arvin and his family.

Bio

Sophie Bonaste LogoSophie Bonaste is a novelist who never set out to be a novelist. As a child, she wanted to a Broadway actress and spent her childhood in numerous productions. But when adulthood set in and reality took over, Sophie chose to give up the theatre for a steady paycheck and instead turned to writing as a creative outlet. She stumbled into the M/M genre through fanfiction and never looked back. Sophie is quite happy with her change in artistic expression and doesn’t plan to stop writing for a long time.

A self-proclaimed nerd, Sophie is an avid fan of all things Star Wars and Harry Potter. (Sophie is a member of the Slytherin house, for those who were wondering.) Sophie also spends many hours watching and re-watching nerdy television shows. When she is not obsessing over the latest and greatest in nerdy entertainment, Sophie can be found screaming at her television during American football games. (Go Pack Go!) Sophie currently lives in Pennsylvania, about twenty minutes from her childhood town of The Middle of Nowhere.

Sophie loves to hear from readers! You can reach her by e-mail at sophiebonaste@gmail.com, on Twitter at https://twitter.com/SophieBonaste or on Facebook as Sophie Bonaste. You can also check out updates on Sophie’s writing and other musings on her website at sophiebonaste.blogspot.com.
