Today I am so pleased to welcome Leta Blake to Joyfully Jay. Leta has come to talk to us about New Year’s resolutions and her latest release, Smoky Mountain Dreams. (I loved this one and reviewed it here.) She has also brought along a fabulous giveaway! ย Please join me in giving Letaย a big welcome!

Weโ€™ve all made โ€˜em. Weโ€™ve all broken โ€˜em.

New Yearโ€™s Eve Resolutions.

I thought it would be fun today to talk to the characters of the books Iโ€™ll be giving away,ย as well as the characters of my latest book, Smoky Mountain Dreams, which spent over a week at #1 on the Gay & Lesbian Romance charts at Amazon and three weeks in the top ten! Color me gobsmacked! ๐Ÿ˜€

New Year's Resolutions

But with no further ado, letโ€™s talk to Matty and Rob from Training Season about their resolutions for the New Year.

Matty: This year I resolve to be more. More everything. More me, more beautiful, more exciting, more extreme, more fun, more powerful, more for Rob, more for me, more for the world. Just more. And better. And thinner. No, not thinner, because that would be bad. According to Rob. Who can be the boss of me all he wants because I like it. In fact, I think that should be his resolutionโ€”to boss me around MORE. Thereโ€™s a theme this year, Rob, and itโ€™s more, more, more.

Rob:ย ย  Sounds about right. Or sounds like you anyway. My resolution is to keep up. If I can. Sometimes I wonder if I can ever beโ€ฆbut I also resolve not to wonder. About that anyway. It doesnโ€™t do anyone any good. So Iโ€™ll resolve to do my best and help Matty do his best and to help him achieve a realistic measure of โ€œmoreโ€ and simultaneously become more myself.

Will they break these resolutions or keep them? You can find out this spring when I hope to be able to release the sequel to Training Season.ย

Next letโ€™s hear from Leith and Zach from The River Leith. What are your resolutions, guys?

Leith: My resolution is to find a new career goal. Iโ€™m no good at being aimless. It makes me antsy and short-tempered. I need to find a new love-of-my-lifeโ€”besides, Zach, I mean! I mean, a career! Not a person! Iโ€™m a one-man kind of guy, so I just mean that I need something to do with my life. Zach has his bar and Iโ€™ve gotโ€ฆclasses that arenโ€™t really doing it for me anymore. I need a new direction and I resolve to find one.

Zach: Hello, my lovelies! I also need a new direction in life and itโ€™s called One Direction. They need to come join me and Leith in the bed. Pronto. Weโ€™ll wait here.

Leith: Youโ€™ll be waiting here without me then.

Zach: Youโ€™re ridiculous but very cute. In truth, I donโ€™t need a new direction or a One Direction, either. Iโ€™m entirely satisfied with my life. The one thing Iโ€™d love to do is make time to write a book about when Leith and I met and fell in love the first time. Heโ€™d like to know more about it and I think it would beโ€ฆhealing for me. But as far as resolutions go, well, I suppose I resolve to have started on this book by the end of the year. But keep in mind! Resolutions are made to be broken! *laughs*

In all seriousness, I would love to write that book for Zach, but Iโ€™m not sure where it would fit in with my writing schedule. Still, one must never say never when one is at the mercy of the muse!

Lastly, letโ€™s meet Christopher and Jesse from Smoky Mountain Dreams. Do you guys have any resolutions to share?

Jesse: I want to show Christopher the world. I resolve to at least see him under the Riviera sun before the year is up. Itโ€™s all so new and good that I donโ€™t know what else to say. My heart wants to promise more, but my mind tells me that I need to wait. He just makes me so damn happy.

Christopher: Jesse makes me really happy too. Iโ€™m going to say my resolution is to start the YouTube channel Iโ€™ve been thinking about and to strengthen my relationship with Jesseโ€™s kids and family. If weโ€™re going to work out as a forever thing, then thatโ€™s where I have to concentrate, because it canโ€™t ever be just about us and how we feel about each other.

So practical these two! I swear they are much steamier and intense in the book!ย  Thereโ€™s a scene I keep hearing readers go on aboutโ€ฆinvolving a string of fake pearl beads. Yes. Iโ€™ve heard thatโ€™s a pretty impractical and super-hot moment between the two of them. ๐Ÿ˜€

As for me, my resolutions are:

  • Finish Training Complex, the sequel to Training Season.
  • Finish Book Three and Four of the Pictures of Youย series. A 1990’s coming-of-age, romance-driven series. Book One will be released in Fall 2015.
  • Publish at least two new books in 2015.

What are your resolutions? How likely are you to break them?

Blurb

Smoky Mountain DreamsSometimes holding on means letting go.

After giving up on his career as a country singer in Nashville, Christopher Ryder is happy enough performing at the Smoky Mountain Dreams theme park in Tennessee. But while his beloved Gran loves him the way he is, Christopher feels painfully invisible to everyone else. Even when heโ€™s center stage, he aches for someone to see the real him.

Bisexual Jesse Birch has no room in his life for dating. Raising two kids and fighting with family after a tragic accident took his childrenโ€™s mother, he doesnโ€™t want more than an occasional hook-up. He sure as hell doesnโ€™t want to fall hard for his favorite local singer, but when Christopher walks into his jewelry studio, Jesse hears a new song in his heart.
