Saving Samuel

Hi everyone,

Thank you to Joyfully Jay for having me on her blog and sharing the news about my three new men, Daniel, Milo and Samuel. It’s exciting to be here.

If we haven’t met before, then here’s a short introduction. I’m Nicole, or Nikkie. As well as being a full time writer, I’m also a mother to two little girls and a wife to my very understanding husband.

I live in the North of England in a busy city call Leeds. I’m a cat person, and my third baby is a beautiful Ragdoll called Marius. I’m a dizzy blonde who tries to always keep a positive attitude and enjoy life no matter what it throws at you. I have OCD, so I’m a perfectionist and struggle sometimes when life doesn’t work the way it should—my way! I have a short temper; hate queuing up for anything — I abandon shopping in the aisle if there are more than three people in front of me. My husband—who is far too English and polite—always turns bright red when I embarrass him. I have over twenty books out and a whole bunch of books I need to get out of my head and onto the page, so as long as people keep reading them, I’ll keep writing them 😀

Saving Samuel was a total surprise to me. I don’t plan much before I write, but the lack of conscious thought and effort I out into the outline and plot scared even me. I’m one of these… go with the flow type of authors who never writes out huge character bios and I never plot the book, I’m lucky if I get to the middle of it and have some clue about what’s going on in my men’s heads. They tell me nothing! It’s like it’s a huge secret or something which I can’t be a part of. I’ve said this before and got strange looks, but I’ll share it again. I can write a whole chapter then look back and read it like someone else has just done it for me. I know!! I’m THAT weird. I could go into a much more detailed version of how crazy I am, but I’ll save that for later. I don’t want to freak you out. Not right now anyway, but it will happen at some point, it always does. 😀

Generally I spend a few months living with my characters, getting to know them, living through their eyes and experiencing things as they would do before I even think about putting them in a book or the plot to go with it, but Saving Samuel wasn’t like that at all. They jumped me and threw me to the ground, stole my life for a solid month and got their story out there for you all.

The idea of a fireman and a policeman came up in a gossip session with my friend over a cup of tea about four months ago and it played around in my mind for a few minutes until it became a ménage with a mysterious runaway.

I was in the middle of another book with my writing partner Emma Leya. It was supposed to be easy, and book one in our Sinful Temptation collection was easy. We loved it, loved the men, everything flowed and we had great fun working together on our first book. Then the new men entered our lives and everything changed. It was emotional, so emotional you will be doing the whole big ugly snot filled crying thing when you read it. It was difficult to write with both of our men giving us such a hard time, so we took time out to work on other things.

I opened up my blank document one night at ten p.m. just thinking I would write a rough outline while the kids were sleeping and the hubby was messing around with his new boy toy—a new motor bike, not some young twink he found and brought home for fun. Unfortunately— and before I knew it, I had twenty odd thousand words and the beginning of Saving Samuel.

I’ve written over twenty books, and from those there have only been three which flowed like Samuel did. Those books are the ones I love the best. Not because it took less time and it ‘felt’ easier, but because the characters in them were so right, and they just worked well together.

Putting together a finished novel isn’t easy, and when your writing gets bogged down and your flow just disappears into the ether, leaving you sitting at your laptop, staring at the screen as you try to figure out where it went, it feels much harder than it should. When everything just keeps moving, and the voices inside my head actually know what they’re doing—which is unusually for my men, trust me on this—everything is just a breeze and the words seem to magically appear on the page. Saving Samuel practically wrote itself, I felt like a bystander.

I went into this book determined not to make a series out of it, and I failed miserably because, as with all my other books, I met other characters which grabbed me on the way who stole my good intentions and demanded a book of their own. I have book two outlined, which just tells me it won’t be as easy as Samuel’s lol But the men in them are dying to get their own words onto the page for everyone to read.

Discovering Dalton will be out by September 2015, and book three—I know!!! I can’t help it—will be out in 2016. I couldn’t write two books in a collection, my OCD demanded another. I like threes, three men, three different books, a set of three. It goes on and on. I have issues which I need help with. 😀

It’s been a really positive experience for me to leave my Hidden Series for a short time and do something completely different by myself, because my other novels outside of my series are co-written with my BFF Emma. This was just little me, and it was very different from my previous books. My series is a complex, emotionally charged bittersweet romance which I connect to a lot. I’ve lived through years of those men’s life, I’ve been through what they’ve been through and I love them all a lot. I know a lot of my Hidden Addicts worried I was leaving the series behind for new men, but I’m not. It’s still a very active series, and I have three full length novels planned along with some fun shorts. So, don’t worry, I’ll be giving you all a new fix soon.

I’m excited about all the positive feedback I’ve received so far on Saving Samuel, and I hope anyone who reads it after finding me on here, will enjoy it in the same way. It’s sometimes daunting to start a well-established series like my other books, and I’ve met a lot of new friends through Samuel.

I want to say a big thank you to anyone who has read my work, or other authors. I always say, it’s you the reader who brings a book alive. Without you, they’re just words gathering dust on a page. You breathe life into every character you read about, bring their world into existence. They only live through you. It doesn’t matter how much hard work I, or other authors put into a book, it all means nothing without you. You’re the most important part of the team 😀
Thank you for taking part and helping us writers out by falling in love with the worlds and the people in them we have created.

Lots of love, Nicole xxx

Excerpt

Samuel reached out and placed his hand on Daniel’s chest, looking between the two men who he cared about and trusted more than any other living person. “Neither of you want me to go?”

“No!” They both answered together and Samuel smiled.

“I thought you did.” Samuel looked back to Milo and saw a dark look pass over his eyes before he shook his head. “Are you sure?”

“I’m sure. Even after last night, I still don’t want you to be apart from us.”

“I don’t want that either,” Samuel whispered and felt Daniel move against him, pressing their chests together, and his hand holding his other hip.

“It’s not living here, it could be anywhere and I still wouldn’t want to go because I wouldn’t be with you two.”

Samuel had both of the men who he wanted so badly so close to him, and just how he imagined while he was in bed last night. Being surrounded by them, encased in their arms, feeling them so close.

He was blushing and turning from them when he felt his body react, and of course Daniel felt it too. “Samuel…” Daniel gently tilted his head back and looked into his eyes. The air was too thick, too hot. Samuel felt like his stomach was on a roller coaster and his whole body shuddered.

He leaned back, resting his body heavily against Milo’s chest, strong arms winding around him and holding him firmly while Daniel moved forwards, keeping all three of them in contact by wrapping his arms around Milo’s back and crushing Samuel between their two hard bodies.

“I don’t want to leave. I don’t want to leave you two.”

“You don’t have to,” Milo gently whispered against his neck. “But if you stay, we need to talk, Samuel.”

“Don’t leave us, Sweetheart.” Daniel gently kissed the corner of his mouth, a gentle moan falling from Samuel’s lips. Both of them reacted to the sound, their bodies tensing around him.

He reached back, running his fingers through Milo’s black hair, keeping his face against his neck, the other hand wrapped around the belt in Daniel’s jeans, pulling him flush against him and moaning again when he felt how hard Daniel was for him.

“Keep moaning like that, and things are going to happen which we can’t stop.” Milo almost growled his words out, and of course, Samuel moaned louder. His arse pressed harder against Milo’s cock, his own stiff length rubbing up against Daniel’s. “Jesus Christ. You’re killing me. Both of you.”

Milo stepped away first, taking a big breath and running his hands over his head before fisting them by his side.

Daniel took Samuel into his arms and looked into his eyes. “We both want you a lot. I don’t think you know just how much we both have to hold back with you, Samuel.”

“I hold back with you too. I want you a lot, you know I do. You’ve always known I wanted more.”

Daniel pressed him against the wall, his heavy frame covering Samuel’s slender build and Daniel’s thighs pinning his legs between them. Samuel groaned when he felt two big hands on his arse, pressing their bodies together, both of them moaning and grinding as Samuel reached up and kissed him. Kissed him hard and demanding. It wasn’t like the other kisses—this one told Daniel just how sure Samuel was about this. No hesitation, no fear, just lust and the demand for more.

“Baby.” Milo was next to them, running his hand over Daniel’s back. “You have to stop.”

“No, please.” Samuel took hold of Milo’s hand and kept him with them. “I don’t want to stop.”

Milo nodded, a soft little smirk on his lips. “Yeah, I know. But this isn’t happening here. It’s not happening at all until we talk some more.”

“Jesus Christ.” Daniel stood back and faced Milo.

“I know you need him, Baby. You think I really want to hold back?” He took Daniel’s hand and placed it over the thick outline of his cock straining in his jeans. “We’re leaving.”

He gave them both a stern look and Samuel closed his eyes, trying to control his body and do what was right, but all he could think about was having them both against him again, feeling their hands running over every inch of his body while they took turns at kissing him. He breathed out, staring into the blackness and heard Daniel groan sexily. It hit him hard, like a punch, and he bit his lip, trying to find a bit of control somewhere inside his frustrated, excited mind.

“You’re testing my resolve, Samuel.” Milo was closer to him, caressing Samuel’s neck with his lips as he spoke. “If you could see how beautiful you look right now, you’d know why.” Milo’s big hands were on his shoulders, flowing firmly down to his chest. “You were born to tease.” Milo was almost against him, his lips so close to Samuel’s jaw, following it to the corner of his mouth. “To tempt.” He kissed Samuel’s bottom lip, teasing it in his teeth softly. “To fascinate.”
