Today I am so pleased to welcome Karen Stivali to Joyfully Jay. Karen has come to talk to share an excerpt from her latest release, Moment of Clarity. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Rain was coming down in sheets so fast, I could barely see two feet in front of the car.
Tanner fidgeted in the passenger seat. “I don’t mean to be a pain in the ass, and I learned my lesson about taking off my seat belt in a moving car, but I swear to God, if you don’t pull over soon, I’m gonna die.”
“ACD. Acute Collin Deficiency.”
I laughed, trying to keep my eyes on the road even though I wanted nothing more than to look at him. My fingers ached to touch him, but I forced myself to grip the steering wheel instead.
“It’s not funny. I’m serious.” His voice was deep and lusty.
Pull over, my cock weighed in urgently. Here. Over there. Anywhere. Pull the fuck over!
“Hang on, I know a place.”
Tanner shifted in his seat, and it took every ounce of self-control I could muster not to reach over and see if he was as hard as I was.
I slowed to make sure I didn’t miss the turnoff in the rainy darkness.
“Where are we going?”
In the distance I saw what I was looking for. An unpaved road cut through a small patch of woods and led to an abandoned barn on acres of land that had been for sale for as long as I could remember.
The car bumped on the uneven pavement. As soon as we neared the barn, I cut the lights and pulled behind the old wooden building.
Tanner leaned closer to the window. “Call me a city kid, but that’s one spooky-looking barn.”
Laughter snorted out of me. “Very spooky. And very private. No one drives down this road even when there’s no monsoon.”
I put the car in park and turned it off.
“No one, huh?” Tanner’s voice was even lower, thick and seductive.
My cock pulsed in reply.
Tanner’s seat belt clicked as he released it. Before I could reach for mine, his hand was on it. The belt slithered up across my chest, followed by Tanner’s fingers. I groaned, shivering with need and wanting to savor every second of his touch.
He cupped my neck, leaning closer. “You’re sure?”
He didn’t say it, but I knew he was thinking about Laura barging in on us. I hated that we had to be so hesitant, so cautious. Nodding, I pointed out the front window. “Even if someone was coming, we’d see the headlights way before they got—”
Tanner interrupted with a kiss that stopped my sentence and my brain. His lips pressed against mine, irresistibly warm in the cold, damp night air. I shifted closer, feeling his fingers tighten on my neck as our tongues touched. So sweet. He tasted so fucking sweet. I nipped at his lower lip, breathing him in as he moaned. “Jesus, I miss this.”
Spending the summer together on Fire Island brought Collin and Tanner closer than ever, but back in their conservative college town, challenges confront them at every turn.
As they search for their new normal in their old environment, Collin’s brother Sean surprises them with help when they need it most. But when word about their relationship gets out, trouble erupts with friends and family. When Collin’s relationship with Tanner becomes an issue in his brother’s custody battle, and Tanner struggles with his feelings for a heartbroken Wendy, Collin wonders if everyone he cares about would be better off without him in the picture. In order to save them both, Tanner must make it clear to Collin that their love for each other is all that matters.
