My Favorite Werewolves by Kenzie Cade

Hey, y’all! Thanks for stopping by today and thanks to JJ and company for having me here at Joyfully Jay. As always, it’s an honor.

I’m indiscriminate when it comes to shifters. I love them in all shapes, sizes, gender, and colors. But for the most part wolves are my go-to I have a thing for growly, dominant, sexy wolves. It’s a reason that Dylan is so near and dear to my heart. He’s strong and passionate, protective and caring, but he’s also soft and understanding with need be. And he was a blast to write.

So, in honor of Dylan Green, I thought I’d share ten of my all-time favorite wolves from film and the written word.

Nicholas Sorrentino (Steve Lund)—Bitten (TV series); Women of the Otherworld series by Kelly Armstrong: Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to Nick. He’s maybe a lesser known wolf to those of you who do not watch Syfy (or haven’t read the books). This series is full of sexy wolves, but Nick stands out for so many reasons. His first scene in Bitten was in bed with a married couple, so… chalk that up as a win. But he’s more than his sexuality. He’s surprisingly the level-headed one of the series, almost detached but brilliant. And sexy.

Ushna and Tristan (Sumeria’s Sons series by Lexi Ander): If you haven’t fallen in love with Tristan and Ushna yet, now is the time. What I love about them, is that they are not the typical werewolf. They are so much more. There is tradition and lore and newness to their characters. The myth of the Lycans creates such rich, full beasts in this series that it is impossible to look away.

Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)—True Blood (TV Series): Enough said. Now, I will say that I prefer the television Alcide to the book, which is a rare admission coming from me. But the Alcide of the series is far more prominent (and, not to mention, damn sexy) than the book character. Plus Joe Manganiello. Just sayin’.

With or Without series wolves (J.L. Langley): When it comes to books and wolves, this is the first series that comes to mind. I’ve thought long and hard on this one and realize now it’s impossible for me to choose a favorite wolf among the many. I love them all. Chay and Keaton, Jake and Remy, Aubrey and Matt, even Sterling and Rhys—I can’t get enough of these guys. And that’s just the couples. Don’t even get me started on the rest of the cast. I love these guys so much.

Ruby (Meghan Ory)—Once Upon a Time (TV series): Let me not leave out the fabulous, kickass women. Ruby, a.k.a. Red Riding Hood is both sweet and scary. I like that her wolf has a mind of its own, completely separate from the human. She’s conflicted yet strong and determined to find a balance. Ruby is my definition of badassery wolfy women.

Hudson (THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet): In this series, Hudson sticks out a bit because he’s a dog living in a world of cats. With Hud, you have to read between the lines and catch his and Seb’s story in pieces, but what a story it is. Hudson is the quiet one of the group, yet his presence is resounding for so many reasons. I want so badly for him to get his happy ending. If anyone deserves it, it’s Hudson.

Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin)—Teen Wolf (TV series): Truly, that’s probably all that needs to be said. Derek Hale is the love of many lives and the subject of some fabulous Sterek fanfiction. I mean, who doesn’t love the take charge attitude and the soft heart?

Ethan Abbat (Until Forever Comes by Cardeno C): This book is near and dear to my heart for a few reasons, not the least of which is Ethan—the innocent, quiet trailblazer. The kid breaks all of the rules and does it for love and without apology or regret. From the outside looking in, he appears to be a quiet follower, but he’s strong and stubborn and bold. Ethan is the beauty of his kind. I adore him.

Peyton Blue (Ruffskin by Megan Derr): The thing I love about Peyton is his desire to be more than his role in life paints him as. He’s kind. Most of all, he just wants to be left alone to live his life, but he’s nobody’s doormat and won’t roll over just because it’s what he’s supposed to do. He’s done that too often in his life. He makes his own path and protects those he loves. And I’m so excited about the Blue pack Ruffskins getting their happy endings. You’ll see.

Dyson (Kris Holden)—Lost Girl (TV series): I fell in love with Dyson from the get go and waited for Bo to catch up. Dyson is a do-gooder with a dark side. Are we sensing a pattern yet? Because it should be obvious how much I love the bad boys by now.

So as you can see, I have a bit of an obsession with wolves (who are bad boys… and some who are good). I’d like to know some of your favorite shifters—wolf or otherwise. Thanks for joining me in kicking off our tour today. I hope you enjoy the book and I especially hope you enjoy Dylan and Avery.

Blurb

Prickly Business by Piper Vaughn & Kenzie CadeSome people might call Avery Babineaux a prick. He’s a hedgehog shifter from an old-money Louisiana family with a penchant for expensive shoes and a reputation for being a judgmental snob. His attitude is why he and his fated mate are estranged. Not that Avery cares. He doesn’t want to be mated to some blue-collar werewolf anyway. Or so he keeps telling himself.

No werewolf likes to be looked down upon, least of all Dylan Green. He doesn’t need a mate, especially not some snotty hedgehog who sneers at his custom motorcycle shop and calls him a grease monkey. But when Avery gets into trouble with a shady loan shark, Dylan can’t stand by and let him be hurt—whether he wants the brat or not.

Yet once Dylan steps into Avery’s world, he realizes there’s more to Avery than his prickly exterior, and that unexpected vulnerability calls to Dylan’s protective instincts. The sassy little hedgehog needs a keeper, and despite their horrible first impressions, Dylan starts to believe he might be the wolf for the job.

Bio

Piper Vaughn Bio
Piper Vaughn wrote her first love story at eleven and never looked back. Since then, she’s known that writing in some form was exactly what she wanted to do. A reader at the core, Piper loves nothing more than getting lost in a great book—fantasy, young adult, romance, she loves them all (and has a two thousand book library to prove it!). She grew up in Chicago, in an ethnically diverse neighborhood, and loves to put faces and characters of every ethnicity in her stories, so her fictional worlds are as colorful as the real one. Above all, she believes that everyone needs a little true love in their life…even if it’s only in a book.

Kenzie Cade Bio
Kenzie Cade was born and raised in the South where she spends her days in the sometimes stressful field of private medicine observing interesting people and committing them to memory for later use. When she isn’t reading, experimenting with recipes, or being distracted by social media, Kenzie spends time with her family, friends, and the Pomeranian/Long-haired Chihuahua mix who likes to keep her company while she writes. As a young girl, Kenzie dreamed of princesses and their white knights. As an adult (or sort of adult), she dreams of princes and their proverbial white knights, which she attributes the fellow Arkansan S.E. Hinton and her novel The Outsiders. Writing to keep the fictional voices at bay, Kenzie enjoys the journeys her characters travel to find their happy endings, and she loves the challenge of writing a great love story.
