Hi everyone! Today I am SOOOO excited to announce the latest big thing at Joyfully Jay! September will be Challenge Month and we have four weeks of fabulous festivities to celebrate!
Ok, so here is the deal. All month long we will be holding fun reading challenges to give us a chance to try some new books that we may not normally pick up. Each week there will be a different challenge and a bunch of our reviewing gang will be trying out books that fit that challenge theme.
And here its the best part… you all get to join in the fun! Each week is sponsored by one of our fabulous publishers and they have brought the prizes! Anyone who comments on any of our challenge reviews will be entered to win that week’s prize. Plus, if you participate in Challenge Month by reading along any of the weeks, you get mega BONUS entries. That means lots of chances to win and a great opportunity to find some new books, authors, and genres to love!
Here is the line up for challenge month:
- Week 1: New-To-Me Author Week (sponsored by Samhain Publishing) – Try an author you have never read before!
- Week 2: TBR Pile Challenge (sponsored by Dreamspinner Press) – Read a book that has been sitting in your TBR pile for at least a year
- Week 3: Genre Challenge (sponsored by Less Than Three Press) – Read a book in a genre you don’t normally read (contemporary, historical, fantasy, etc)
- Week 4: Favorites List Challenge (sponsored by Samhain Publishing)  – Pick a book from one of our Joyfully Jay Favorite Books lists
In addition to chances to win each week, Riptide Publishing has sponsored a fabulous grand prize! Everyone who earns entries during any of the weekly challenges will be also entered to win the amazing grand prize!
So this should be a fabulous event! I am really excited about it and can’t wait for the chance to try some new books and hear what you all are reading! You can get started now by thinking about what challenges you might want to try and what you might want to read. In the next week or so, I’ll also be sharing what we are reading in case you want to read along with us and share your thoughts on the book rather than picking your own. And remember, every time you participate by commenting or reading along, you get entries for prizes sponsored by our amazingly generous publishers!
So what do you all think? Any ideas for what you want to read? Hopefully this will inspire everyone to try some new things and find some new favorites!
Update:Â
This looks like a fun challenge and i look forward in participating and maybe finding a new (to me) author that i love or even a genre that i normaly don’t read and didn’t think i like only to discover that i do LOL
Oh good, I hope so! I am looking forward to trying some new authors and genres
Brilliant idea, sounds like fun!
THanks! I am excited about it!
Great idea! I’m on holidays so I’ll be able to join the challenge in reading new to me writers and some of my TBR list. Then I have to go back to work so maybe I cannot join for the last two… but I’ll do my best to participate. It sounds like fun! 😉
Oh good, that sounds great! And even if you can’t read along the second two weeks, you can still comment on our reviews for chances to win as well.
What a fun idea! Â I am looking forward to it.
Thanks!
Oh good, thanks!
Sounds fun! I’d like to try new things… I’ve never read about superheroes or zombies, I don’t know why. And it’s good you pick the books, Â otherwise I wouldn’t know what to choose. XDÂ
Oh, I have lots of good reccs if you want suggestions for either genre. FWIW, we will be sharing what we are reading so if anyone wants to read the same thing they can. But you don’t need to read what we read. you are welcome to pick your own books as well and will earn bonus entries for anything you read in those week’s themes.
Sounds like a lot of fun. All of the challenges are great ideas to try something new or different.Â
Oh good! I am glad you like it!
love the concept so hope to participate
I hope so too!
Now that I’m done with all my deadlines this sounds like just what my brain needs! And September is perfect. It’ll distract me from the fact that my parents are moving. What a wonderful idea.
Oh good, I am so glad! Sorry to hear about your folks though. Hope things go all right.
Sounds fun. He to delve into the TNT file to see what I haven’t read. Always looking for new to me author as well. Looking forward to this
Oh good, I hope you find something that sparks your interest!
This sounds like a lot of fun! Looking forward to September 🙂
thanks! Me too!
Sounds great fun Jay!Â
I do tend to stick to my genres so will be testing the waters in some scifi or space or AUÂ
Yes, that is my issue too. Always gravitate toward the same stuff. I’m looking to try a fantasy and a sci fi for genre week.
I am looking forward to joining in! I have hundreds on books on my TBR list so I am sure some of the challenges will be books waiting for me on my kindle. Â Looking forward to finally getting to some new to me books/authors! Â
Oh good! My TBR pile is out of control too so I am excited to pick up some books that have been languishing!
Yeah, that sounds great in theory. Just need to not buy/preorder several new books while reading one from the TBR pile. Maybe that’s why the pile never shrinks…
This sounds like a fun challenge! My TBR is out of control so I think I’ll be able to tackle most of the weeks. Dunno about the “try a different genre” since I read across several genres already. 😉
*glances over TBR* Hmm, maybe sci-fi? I think that’s the one I read about the least (less than 10 titles, if I’m not mistaken).
In any case, I’ll give it a try. Looking forward to participating!
So glad you are looking forward to it! Happy you will be participating!
This is a great idea and sounds like a lot of fun.
Oh good, thanks!
Sounds like a great idea! My TBR pile is massive so hopefully participating might bring it down a bit well hopefully.
Yes, mine too. It has gotten embarrassing!
I love this idea!!! Fun!
Thanks Julie, I am so glad!
