Hi everyone! So yesterday was our official kickoff post for our September Reading Challenge Month and today I wanted to talk a little bit about what to expect this week for New-to-Me Author Week.
So first off, if you aren’t caught up on the event, be sure to check out the details here. It has just about everything you might need to know about what is going on.
Ok, so this week we will be reviewing books Tuesday-Friday from authors we have never read before. Here is what we are reviewing:
Tuesday
- Saving Grapes by Madeline Kirby (Wendy)
- Tower of the Ice Lord by Anne Mok (Kris)
- The Cop and the Geek by Cat Blaine (Crissy)
Wednesday
- Unsaid by Avery Aster (Jay)
- Chef’s Table by Lynn Charles (Michelle)
- Ace by Jack Byrne (Jason)
Thursday
- Knight of Ocean Avenue by Tara Lain (Michelle)
- The Affair of the Porcelain Dog by Jess Faraday (Lloyd)
Friday
- Heart of a Hero by James Cox (Sammy)
You guys join in this week in two ways:
1) Leave a relevant comment on any of the challenge review posts (one entry for each post you comment on)
2) Read along and provide a mini review of your book on our Friday wrap up post (10 entries)
And what can you win? Well this week is sponsored by Samhain Publishing, and they have put together a great a prize package full of books by authors new to Samhain in 2015, including:
- Drawing the Devil by Jon Keys
- Uncovering Ray by Edie Danford
- Rite of Summer by Tess Bowery
- Fleur de Nuit by Cat Montmorency
- Not by Boyfriend by Monica Anderson
- Cravings Creek by Mel Bossa
- Dark Economy by M. Keedwell
- House of the Rising Son by Trepan Rogers
Every entry earned this week (and every week throughout the month) will also go toward a drawing for a fabulous grand prize sponsored by Riptide Publishing. Riptide is giving Advanced Review Copies of 12 of their books that publish in September and beyond! For most of these titles, you will get them well before they are even released, in special paperback format made just for the trades for review (so there are usually only about 10 of each book in this form in existence!). Books include:
- Bane by Amelia C. Gormley – Releases September 21
- Rough Road by Vanessa North — Releases September 28
- Lesson for Sleeping Dogs by Charlie Cochrane — Releases Oct 12
- Minotaur by J.A. Rock — Releases Oct 19
- Dead Ringer by Heidi Belleau and Sam Schooler — Releases Oct 26
- A Fortunate Blizzard by L.C. Chase — Releases Nov 2
- Tribute: The Complete Series — Releases Nov 2
- Rebound Remedy by Christine d’Abo – Releases Nov 9
- Y Negative by Kelly Haworth — Releases Nov 16
- Blueberry Boys by Vanessa North — Releases Nov 30
- Winter Oranges by Marie Sexton – Releases Nov 30
- Subs Club by J.A. Rock – Releases Dec 7
The winner will get all these books shipped at the end of September, so you will get your copies WAY before anyone else gets their hands on them! (International winners: due to high shipping costs, Riptide can’t send paperbacks overseas. International folks will get copies of all of these books in ebook form the Saturday before they are released.)
I’m looking forward to the reviews this week; they are all  (but Tara Lain) knew authors to me as well, though some of the names sound familiar. This challenge has made me realize even before it starts how limited my reading is when authors are concerned. Probably should get better at trying out new names. At least I have a new-to-me author lined up already for this weeks challenge. Happy reading everybody, and thanks to all of you who are organizing the event!
Yes! It is amazing, even with so many books at our fingertips, how many authors I have never read or we have never reviewed. Glad you will be joining us for the challenge!
Hi,
I’m going to read along with you. I’ve chosen Joyee Flynn as new-to-me… This is going to be fun! 😉
These are new to me authors except for Tara Lain. I enjoy her writing very much.
Quite a few new-to-me authors in this week’s choices, and in the prize pack, too! Looking forward to ACE this week…
I love this one. it’s always fun to read and discover a new author. I’m going to look at the blurbs of the books you are reading and based on that i’m going to decide wich one to read. I really look forward to this 🙂
I am so glad you are excited about it! I am so thrilled we have so many folks reading along!
Only read Saving Grapes from your list and thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This sounds like it’s going to be a fun month!
This is going to be fun! Â I will be reading Sutphin Boulevard by Santino Hassell. Â Â Thanks for putting together this event.
That book is so well written and I thought it was great. Excellent choice.Â
I have heard great things about that one!
I have both of Thursday’s books, but I haven’t read either of them. Maybe I’ll start with The Affair Of The Porcelain Dog. 🙂
Oh great! I’ll be interested to see how your thoughts compare with Lloyds!
I think I will read Fall for Me (The Rock Gods #1) by Ann Lister, I heard great things about this series. And I read The  Cop and the Geek by Cat Blaine some time ago, it was a nice read but a little short for me.
I haven’t got any of the ones you are reviewing but will be checking them out as the reviews are posted to see if I can get some for the buy list!
I have started Favorite Son by Will Freshwater, my new-to-me author
Awesome!
I read a new different new to me author as well. Â Just finished Must Love Dogs by K. Lynn
