Today I am so pleased to welcome Jaime Reese to Joyfully Jay. Jaime is here as part of the GRL Blog Tour to talk to us about her Men of Halfway House series. She has also brought along an excerpt and giveaway! Please join me in giving Jaime a big welcome!

grl blog tourHi, everyone *waves*

I want to start by thanking Joyfully Jay for hosting me today and for all of you who are taking the time to read my post!

GRL is in October, and I, like many others, am counting down the days and running to get things wrapped up before that time. For those of you that don’t know, I’m also Reese Dante, and this will be my fourth GRL—my third as an organizer. I’m anxious this year—more so than usual. I’m sure most people would have kicked the anxiety out the window by now considering the number of years in attendance thus far, but this will also be my first as a Featured Author.

I have released three books to date—all within the same series. The latest story in The Men of Halfway House series, titled A Restored Man, released earlier this year. This book features Cole and Ty battling to overcome personal struggles and trying to find their place in the world. It’s a character-driven story that focuses on the two men, their relationship, and how they restore the balance they each need in life.

Each book in the series has a distinct tone. A Better Man is a slow-burn, friends-to-lovers contemporary romance. A Hunted Man is a faster-paced, romantic suspense story. A Restored Man is purely character-driven with a little angst, maybe a few tears, and hopefully, plenty of smiles and laughter. I’m currently working on the next story (Aidan & Jessie) and hope to have it ready for early 2016.  And with the characters for the following book already whispering in my ear, I’m excited to see where the guys from The Men of Halfway House will lead me next.

I hope you enjoy the short excerpt featuring Cole and Ty.

Excerpt

Cole’s stomach growled, totally ruining his casual perusal of Ty’s features.

Ty’s gaze snapped back to Cole’s. “Hungry?”

Cole nodded and looked up at the walk clock. He sighed. The day passed too fast when he spent time with Ty.

“Go ahead and grab something,” Ty said.

“Aren’t you coming?”

“I’m fine,” Ty said, reaching into his pocket.

Cole planted his hands on his waist. “Are you fucking serious? Please tell me you’re actually going to eat,” he said, watching Ty bite into the chocolate bar.

“I am eating.”

Cole rolled his eyes. “Not that crap or TV dinners. I mean real fucking food. I don’t think you eat.”

“Sure I do. You saw me eat a sandwich the other day.”

Cole crossed his arms and arched an eyebrow. “That could have been a one-time deal.”

“You’re not with me all the time,” Ty said, taking another bite.

“I don’t think you eat regularly. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen you take a bathroom break either.”

“I’ll call you to supervise the next time I need to take a leak.”

Cole glared. “You should have a good meal.”

“I usually work late and I can’t exactly cook in my office.”

“Why don’t you come over and let me cook for you?” Cole asked, tugging on his beanie.

“You can cook?”

“Would you even know the difference eating that shit?” Cole pointed to the chocolate bar with a sneer.

Ty’s eyes slowly widened. “You’re asking me out on a date?”

Cole looked away, his pulse quickening. “It’s an invitation to come to the halfway house on my night to cook. You’ll finally meet Matt and Julian. I’ll ask Aidan, if you want a familiar face. Not sure you can call it a date. It’s real food. Good food. Say yes.”

“Yes.”

Cole tried to hide his surprise. “Anything in particular you like?”

Ty chuckled. “Apparently I eat crap. Surprise me.”

Blurb

A Restored ManCole Renzo thinks his greatest challenge is to behave for the remainder of his term at Halfway House. Until he meets his new boss, Ty Calloway, a man who ticks off every box on Cole’s list of interests.

A sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars, Ty had enough confidence to command what he wanted in life, until one fateful night changed everything. Almost two years later, he’s slowly rebuilding his life with great control. He’s defied the odds and works tirelessly to be the man he once was—but he still feels broken.

Cole’s candor and unfiltered personality awaken Ty’s barely-remembered desire to greet each new day with a smile, while Ty’s unwavering acceptance of Cole’s quirks and brash humor makes Cole feel as if he fits in for the first time in far too long. When a nemesis threatens Ty’s personal restoration and the things he holds dear, Cole is determined to protect their relationship, even if that means sacrificing everything he’s worked so hard to achieve.

But Ty will have to let his guard down, surrender control, and admit he needs Cole first, even if that puts himself at risk of breaking beyond repair.

The Men of Halfway House series

Bio

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.
