Today I am so pleased to welcome Kathryn Sparrow to Joyfully Jay. Kathryn has come to talk to us about her latest release, Alpha Coder, the first Geek Pack story. She has also brought along a great tour wide giveaway. Please join me in giving Kathryn a big welcome!

Alpha Coder Tour Baner

I’m Kathryn Sparrow, author of Alpha Coder. I’ve brought an interview that was conducted with Liam Reed, one of the main characters in Alpha Coder. I’ll let the interviewer speak for herself.

Greetings, this is Matilda Pounds of the Hampton Pounds. I want to thank Joyfully Jay  for allowing me to conduct this interview. I’m speaking with Liam Reed, son of William and Amanda Reed of the Reed Foundation. He’s here to talk about their latest endeavor, saving the red wolf.

MP: Welcome, Mr. Reed.

LR: *Clears throat* Please, uh, call me Liam. It’s great to be here. Red Wolves are critically endangered and we need to do everything we can to save this important species.

MP: I thought Red Wolves were extinct already. I’m glad to hear we still have a chance to save them.

LR: They were extinct in the wild, but thanks to the efforts of zoos and other animal rescue groups, there are now about one hundred red wolves living in the wild.

MP: How does that work? I thought animals in zoos couldn’t survive on their own.

LR: Red wolves in captivity were bred and the pups were raised with minimal human contact so that they could be re-introduced into the wild. This effort is continuing. One hundred wolves does not put the species out of danger.

MP: So how is the Reed Foundation contributing to this effort?

LR: In a few weeks, we’re hosting a black tie fundraiser at the Roger Williams Park Zoo to aid in their efforts. We’re planning to make a large donation and we’re challenging people to try and match it.

MP: There are so many endangered species. Why the red wolf?

LR: I’ve always felt an affinity for wolves in general. Something about them just… calls to something inside of me. When I heard about the work with red wolves, I knew we needed to help.

MP: How can others help?

LR: There are a variety of ways people can get involved. They can make donations to Zoo’s that are breeding red wolves. They can adopt a red wolf. Here’s a list of resources for your readers.

MP: Thanks for stopping by today and good luck with this important endeavor.

LR: Thanks for helping us raise awareness.

Excerpt

However, Cody remembered tonight was the fund-raiser, and he reminded his mate that he needed to attend as his punishment. While Liam could have told him to go to hell, instead he gave Cody a much needed distraction by playing up his “misery.”

“Really, do I have to?” Liam called from their bathroom in an exaggerated whine.

Chuckling, Cody called back, “Yes, really. Damn, you sound like a three-year-old.”

Liam came out and struck a pose. “Well?”

Cody took a moment to admire the clean lines of the Oxxford tux that framed his mate’s broad chest and narrow waist. “Oh yeah, that works.”

“It itches,” Liam bellyached, pulling at his collar with a melodramatic roll of his eyes.

Cody shook his head. “You really are a three-year-old.”

Liam stuck his tongue out. “Am not.”

Cody laughed at the petulant expression on Liam’s face. “These fund-raisers are important. Helping endangered wolves matters.”

“They’re gonna make me give a speech.” Liam studied his feet. His fingers rapped against his leg. “I hate giving speeches. I never know what to say.”

My poor, introverted, geek mate.

Blurb

Alpha Coder CoverAs the second son, Liam Reed never expected to be a werewolf Alpha. He preferred to develop software for Soft Corp, but when his brother Jason died in a car accident, their father forced Liam to assume leadership of the pack. Liam plans to govern with compassion, instead of ruling through fear, but pack member Bradley Karr undermines Liam’s leadership, biding his time before challenging for Alpha. Tired of pack politics, all Liam wants is to program and find his mate, but he fears that neither is in his future.

When his mate, werewolf Cody Jones, starts working at Soft Corp as Liam’s intern, sparks fly. However, a relationship with Cody could get them both fired for fraternization. And, that’s not the worst problem. Cody doesn’t seem to accept Liam as his mate.

Liam’s only chance at happiness is to win Cody over while keeping their relationship a secret. But really, Cody would never stay with an introverted geek like him, an ineffectual Alpha failing to live up to his brother’s legacy. Would he?

Author Bio PhotoKathryn Sparrow has had stories spinning around in her head her whole life and finally decided it was time to write them down. For twenty years, she worked in the Software Industry as a Software Quality Engineer, so she gets a particular thrill including geeks in her stories. Now, she is a stay-home mom although she thinks that’s a terrible name for the job since she spends so much time driving her kids to their various activities. She lives in Massachusetts with her geek husband and adorable, infuriating daughters, who are too smart for their Mommy’s own good. If she had spare time she would spend it knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, and doing any other handicrafts that caught her fancy.
