Thank you all for joining me on the next stop of my blog tour celebrating the release of Between the Devil and the Pacific Blue which is out October 31st. I’d also like to thank Joyfully Jay for hosting me.

Although Between the Devil and the Pacific Blue isn’t necessarily a Halloween story, it does have certain horror elements which made it perfect for a Halloween release date. This fun little novella has a bit of everything, romance, sexy-times, humor, action, mystery, suspense, and a dash of horror.

The horror romance genre is one I have merely dipped a toe in. To be honest, it’s not a genre I’ve considered writing in before, but I had so much fun with this story that I haven’t completely dismissed the idea. Of course my version of horror is most likely pretty tame compared to other stories out there. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to horror. There were several instances in Jordan Castillo Price’s amazing PsyCop series where I wished I could close my eyes while simultaneously reading, as well as in Jordan L. Hawk’s Hainted. Not that closing my eyes would have done me any good, considering the vivid imagery was seared into my brain. If you haven’t read either, I highly recommend them.

I’m a sucker for paranormal romance stories with otherworldly aspects, though I can’t say the same for movies. I remember having to turn on all the lights on my way to the bathroom for several nights after watching Ju-On and the original version of The Ring. Coming from a very spiritual culture that believes in spirits and the afterlife doesn’t help in the horror movie department. Vengeful spirits and paranormal activity—not the movies—scare the heck out of me. So, no, there won’t be any checking in to haunted hotels in Louisiana for me, thank you very much. You couldn’t pay me to sleep there. You’re lucky if you can get me to take one of the tours, and there’s a good chance the slightest noise will have me feeling from the place like it was on fire.

When I was a kid I loved horror movies. Nightmare on Elm Street was one of my favorites. I watched everything from Halloween to Friday the 13th, to Poltergeist to the Exorcist.  Somewhere along the way, my head decided “nope”, because when you grow up your brain starts trying to explain these things, the plausibility of it, and anything remotely related that could maybe kinda happen. I have a very active imagination. After that last trend of Japanese horror flicks, I called it a day on horror movies. Though these days there are some pretty amazing shows out there, so I might have to give those a try.

How about you? Do you enjoy a good horror movie? Do you have a particular you like or don’t like? Any particular kind that scares the pants off you?

James is drawn to Franklin, but Franklin is a man at the end of his rope, and James has no intention of getting caught up in whatever trouble Franklin is in. A heated encounter late one night sends James down a disturbing path and has him questioning everything around him, including his very sanity.
