This book was absolutely amazing!!! Before I even finished this book, I was snatching up the rest of the series! You’ve got action mixed around solving a mystery shrouded in religion – think Indiana Jones (times 5) meets Di Vinci Code. I should warn readers, like any good action movie/book, everything is over the top, but it’s all good.
The plot centers around Professor Fathom calling together his team of four adventure seekers at his home in the Alps with a new adventure for them to go on. The newest member, Jake, is already there recovering from his last adventure and needs convincing to become part of the Professor’s team. Professor Fathom wants his team to locate the statue known as the Naked Christ, a work of artist Videlle, who was brutally tortured and murdered by the Crimson crown, a fanatical faction of the Church, for being the anti-Christ of the art world. While Videlle was being murdered, his lover and assistant, Zefferino, stole the statue, writing its location on a stone tablet that he broke in half and buried in two different locations.
The writing is amazing. The settings are so vivid that you feel as if you are right there alongside these men as they travel the world. From the sandstorm in the Arabian Desert, to the frigid cold of the Alps, and everywhere in between, the author brings the story to life with the details.
The sex scenes are erotic. With five gay men, all with very healthy appetites, there is no lack of spice to heat things up. I will warn readers, though, that if you are looking for “romance,” you will be disappointed.
My one complaint is that this book ends with a cliffhanger that leads you to the next in the series. Considering I couldn’t put this book down, it wasn’t a great hardship to force myself to read the next book.
While this book is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, if you like a little adventure, a little mystery, and a whole lot of hot, sexy, gay men, you don’t want to miss this one!
