Adam Rossmore lost his parents at an early age and has way too much money on his hands. He plays the role of the rich party boy whose days and nights are spent living it up with centerfolds. Up until now, he’s managed to get out of jail free from every DUI he’s gotten. This time, the judge slaps him with community service at the insane asylum, Ivy Hollow, where for the next thirty days he will live with the inmates. Initially, Adam is convinced this was one of his uncle’s attempts to get Adam to cool his partying ways…until the door locks behind him.

As Adam meets the residents of Ivy Hollow, he finds himself drawn to Christian Hale – a man whose has lived at Ivy Hollow his entire life. Despite being straight, Adam finds himself drawn to Christian as he seeks solace in his music. As Adam tries to fight his attraction to Christian, he finds himself falling deeper for a man who may never leave the confines of the asylum.

One of the reasons why I love self-published stories so much is that I never quite know what I am going to get. Traditionally published stories would probably never venture into having a hero who is certifiably insane falling in love.

Christian was a child prodigy when it came to his music. It was, in fact, his musical ability which allowed him to garner attention from his parents who never seemed to have time for him as he was growing up…until even that wasn’t enough to keep them around. Confined to the Ivy Hollow asylum, Christian has spent his entire life sequestered within those walls with the occasional excursion to a local bar where drag queens rule. He spends his days caring for his plants, playing music, and engaging in sexual relations with whichever orderly is available.

Adam is a playboy who has too much time and money on his hands. Forced to perform community service at the asylum, Adam is looking to do his time and get out of there as quickly as he can. He wasn’t expecting to find himself aroused by one of the inmates. As Adam’s time begins passing by, Adam finds that there is more to Ivy Hollow than meets the eye.

While both Adam and Christian have been quite promiscuous in their pasts, it takes quite a while for the two of them to begin to heat things up. Once they do, though, things get very hot!

While the plot was quite interesting, I have to admit that there were times where I felt as if I was missing key points. In fact, I was nearly 2/3 of the way through before some of it began to start making sense to me – by that point I was nearly ready to give up. Once it all started to make sense, the rest of the book seemed to go in overdrive to the point where it seemed like a dash for the finish line. As for the ending, it feels like a cliffhanger type ending where you know there is something else coming, but you have to wait for the next in the series to find out what happens.

Overall, I really wanted to like this book. It’s different, it has a great plot, but it just didn’t seem to meet my expectations. Despite this, I anxiously await the next in the series to find out what happens next!
