Dan loves his holiday sweater. Sure it’s a bit… loud and busy, but it speaks to him. Unfortunately, the sweater Dan refuses to give up is also the cause for many a relationship end. After moving back in with his parents for the third time, Dan stops at Starbucks for a cup of coffee on his way to work. He doesn’t expect that trip to end in a steamy encounter that has nothing to do with the coffee.

Jake can’t quit thinking about the Starbucks man with the hideous sweater. When his coworkers drag it out of him, they broadcast it over the radio, looking for the man in the ugly sweater. Luckily for Jake, Dan’s coworkers listen to the radio show.

When Jake and Dan meet under pressure, Dan has to wonder if Jake’s attraction to him is a temporary or a PR stunt. And if it’s not, is it possible to fall for someone on the basis of one ugly sweater?

I found this novella incredibly adorable, a definite feel-good holiday piece. I went into this expecting a short and sweet tale and that’s exactly what I got. I’ve read a couple of this author’s free works with the M/M Goodreads group, but this one is probably my favorite. The concept is cute and the relationship sweet.

Dan and Jake’s first meeting is quick and unexpected, but it works well with the rest of the story. I think I would have liked more of both characters, to get to know them better and maybe have a conflict. But overall, the characters are adorable and this story is fun.

The Ugliest Sweater is a sweet and fluffy holiday story and a wonderful read. If you’re looking for a quick, feel-good read, this is the one.
