Today I am so pleased to welcome Nic Starr to Joyfully Jay. Nic has come to talk share an exclusive (and NSFW) excerpt from her latest release, Rustic Melody. She has also brought along…. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Hi there. It’s Nic Starr here and I’m excited to be visiting Joyfully Jay. Thanks for having me along.
My latest story, Rustic Melody, is set in country New South Wales, and it’s been lots of fun to venture into rural Australia. Although I must admit that most of the action takes place in large country towns, not the outback. 🙂
In the story, Adam, who is from Sydney, is travelling when he meets Joey at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Although many of my family members live in Tamworth, it’s been a long time since I visited. The same with Armidale, the country town where Joey lives. The closest I’ve been in years is driving through on the New England Highway. This meant I had to research each location.
It turns out that research can be lots of fun, even when you can’t get somewhere in person. I started by visiting a Tourist Centre and picking up some guides for the region where the story takes place. They were full of maps, and the usual ‘touristy’ stuff. I came away with lots of ideas for holidays. LOL. I spoke to family and friends who were familiar with the area, and were happy to talk about their towns. Then I did the usual Googling. Where things got interesting was the discovery of videos on YouTube—I got to have a front seat as someone used a dash-cam and drove around Armidale. Who would have thought? It turns out you can find almost anything on YouTube. I watched videos of Australian rodeo events, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and motorbike riding, just to name a few.
Click here for the link to the car ride around Armidale if you want to take a peek (not particularly thrilling, but hugely educational for an author needing to get the feel of a place). 🙂
I do hope you enjoy spending a bit of time with Adam and Joey, in their places they love.
Adam pushed himself off the bed and sat back on his haunches. His dark hair was a mess—a tangle of wild curls falling to his shoulders—and his eyes were dark and half-closed. Joey got a glimpse of wet, pink tongue as Adam licked his bottom lip. Joey wanted those swollen, shiny lips to kiss him again, but Adam’s hand on the back of his thigh held him in place—open and spread out for Adam’s taking. Joey’s cock jerked on his belly, and he bit his lip to keep from begging Adam to touch him. Adam’s lips quirked as he stared down at him. The tension in Joey’s body must have been obvious as Joey’s muscles quivered under Adam’s firm hand.
Slowly, agonisingly slowly, Adam ran a single finger down the ridge of Joey’s erection. “Is this what you want?” he drawled. Joey could only nod. “For me to touch you like this?” Adam brushed his fingertips over the smooth skin of Joey’s balls.
“Uh-huh,” Joey moaned.
Adam retraced the path his finger had just taken, returning to the tip of Joey’s cock and running a circle around the head. He pressed his fingernail into the slit. “And this?”
“Fuck,” Joey hissed. His thighs shook with the effort to hold still, his cock throbbing and leaking onto his belly.
Adam pressed more firmly on the underside of Joey’s thigh, pushing Joey’s leg back onto the mattress. The action raised Joey’s arse and forced another groan from him. This time Adam bent over to kiss him—another hot, wet kiss that stole his breath.
As they kissed, Adam’s body pressed against Joey’s, providing his cock with much-needed friction. Joey’s eyes rolled back as the head of his dick slid along Adam’s hard stomach.
Oh my God.
The kiss ended abruptly when Adam sat back up, leaving Joey feeling bereft. He needed Adam’s mouth and missed the pressure on his cock. “Please.” He wasn’t even sure what he was asking for.
Adam Chambers has never seen eye-to-eye with his father and is reluctant to take over the family’s property-development company. To clear his head and work out what he wants to do with the rest of his life, Adam leaves his responsibilities in the city and heads out to see the country.
He isn’t much closer to deciding what to do with his life when he arrives at one of Australia’s largest events, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and meets Joey Callaway.
Since Joey’s father’s tragic death left Joey the family’s debt-ridden pub, Joey has struggled, desperate to turn the business around and give his mum the life she deserves. A break away from the pressures of running the pub is just what he needs, and a hook-up with Adam is the perfect way to forget about his troubles.
The one-night stand might just be an opening act. If Adam and Joey can follow the music in their hearts, perhaps they can heal each other and create a melody that will last a lifetime.
