Kris Hunter is trying to break out of the porn industry into mainstream films, but no one is willing to look beyond his resume of skin flicks to see the true talent he has…until he auditions for Zayn Mason. The sparks fly when these two meet, but Kris isn’t willing to take the casting couch route to success despite his attraction to Zayn.

Zayn sees the potential in Kris. As the casting director, he’s been known for finding the wild card to fill roles in movies and Zayn will be his biggest wild card to date if he can convince others that Kris is perfect for the roles.

As the two team up both professionally and personally, they’ve got their work cut out for them. With Zayn carrying past relationship baggage and Kris trying to cross over from porn, they have to fight their pasts in order to find a future under the lights of the silver screen.

I was a bit hesitant to read this story, especially when it comes with the disclaimer that this book contains scenes of voyeurism and intimacy with multiple partners. Don’t know about you all, but for me, I prefer books where the main characters only have intimate scenes with each other…but when you have one of them has a career as a porn star, it is to be expected. While this didn’t bother me as much as I anticipated, I was surprised there wasn’t a disclaimer about child abuse and molestation as we learn about a character being molested during his childhood by a family member.

This is an instant-love storyline where the attraction between these two just sizzles off the page. I loved Kris and Zayn. Both of them are looking for something more out of life. Kris feels like his creativity is suffocating with the mindless porn films he’s been doing for the last six years to put a roof over his head and food in his belly. While he could have done the traditional waiting tables like so many other Hollywood hopefuls, he made good money in the porn industry. He just never expected it to be as difficult as it is to claw his way into a script reading once people found out he was a porn star.

Meanwhile, Zayn is a casting director whose been known for his wild card picks. Though he has a successful career, Zayn’s personal life is a disaster. He may be able to spot the perfect actor for a role, but he sucks at finding the perfect partner.

Needless to say, there are an abundance of sex scenes – and given one of them has made a living off sex, they were appropriately hot. What I really liked, though, was that there was a whole different feeling I got when Kris was “working” versus when he was with Zayn that really helped me feel the connection between these two.

As with all good stories, there has to be some conflict, and this story has a couple. The first issue is that there is someone who is trying to derail Kris’ shot at moving into mainstream movies by trying to blackball him by bringing up his porn past, so this added a bit of mystery and suspense to the story. The second conflict is Zayn’s own issues with relationships, which added a bit of angst into the mix.

My one complaint about the story is that at times it was almost too sweet with how perfect everything seemed between Kris and Zayn, even when there was a bit of angst thrown in. Add in a dog – yes, pets make everything so much sweeter – and it just was too much of a feel good story at times. Some of you are going to love this.

Just a note that while we don’t get into elaborate detail about what happened with the molestation, the character does address his shame of having to sit through dinner with his molester and everyone who knew what happened sitting there at the table and his fear of having his father find out, yet having the desire to tell him.

Overall, this was a good story with plenty of spice, a bit of suspense, a bit of angst, and a whole lot of sweet! If you are looking for a story without a lot of angst, this is the book for you!
