Blog Tour "Resurrection" June 1st - June 14th

Excerpt

Derrick was standing at the kitchen counter chopping vegetables to go into his homemade soup planned for the night. Jamie was on the phone with the base.

“Yes, sir. I understand, sir. Not an issue. Thank you, sir,” Jamie said as he hung up the phone.

“That was sure a lot of ‘sir’s for one conversation,” Derrick teased. He looked up and swept some of Jamie’s hair to the side. “This is growing too long.”

“Under orders not to cut it shorter,” he answered, reaching over Derrick’s shoulder and stealing a slice of carrot.

“Hey, you keep out of there, mister.” Derrick held up a knife.

Jamie snorted. “I’m pretty confident I could take you,” he replied, reaching out and giving Derrick a playful slap.

“Well, that’s simply because I’d let you win,” Derrick defended, going back to the chopping. “So, when do you leave?”

Jamie smiled tenderly. Derrick had mastered how to translate the one-sided conversations well. “I leave tonight. Have to report to the base at 8:00 p.m.,” he answered, knowing the short notice would not go well.

Derrick tried hard to be supportive, but he was just becoming used to having Jamie around. “Where to and how long?”

“Iraq,” he wavered, moving up behind Derrick and wrapping his arms around him. “For a year.”

“A year?” Derrick pulled away abruptly. “A fucking year? I thought four months was long only until I had to go through six months. Now I’m supposed to sit around and wait for you while you go off to play in the desert for a whole year?”

“I’m pretty certain there won’t be much playing,” Jamie said under his breath.

“Oh, you know what I mean. A year?” he repeated, this time sounding sad. Jamie cupped his cheek.

“I’m sorry, babe. We knew this was coming,” he said.

“Yeah, but I didn’t want it to happen. What if you get hurt? Or worse?” Derrick asked.

“I will not get hurt. You’ll see. Time will pass quickly,” he assured his lover.

“Sure, if you’re being shot at, time flies. But when you’re sitting here, watching another rerun of Oprah, time crawls by pretty slowly,” Derrick pouted.

Blurb

ResurrectionHis war has just begun.

James (Jamie) Massey has been raised in a strict military household and grew up with the sole purpose of becoming a soldier. He never imagined the heartache his choices in love and war would weigh on his soul, and when he loses everything, he can’t imagine ever being happy again.

Chris Baker grew up in a small town, raised on the rodeo circuit. When he met Ben, he thought he’d live blissfully every after, but things have a way of not going along as planned. Chris, devastated by his loss, was barely hanging on.

When Jamie and Chris end up in the same small town diner, it can only be credited to divine intervention. But are both men too damaged? They say God works in mysterious ways. Well, he certainly had his hands full when he chose these two for saving.

Is it too late?

Bio

Who is Shelly Davidson? Shelly is someone who has been writing literally her entire life (and that’s a LONG time) and has always written M/M. Her first story was back in high school and she hasn’t stopped since. Of course, Shelly never dreamed of getting published, so needless to say, she’s in heaven! Shelly loves her characters. Her writing focus is real people, flaws and all, who are hurting or damaged, but deserve a little joy in their lives. Shelly was born and raised in Arizona, but currently lives in California because that is where the money is! She is currently single, but has a grown daughter and an adorable grandson both of whom she loves dearly. While she usually stays pretty much to herself, she does have a Bachelor’s in Social Services and a diverse background that ranges from theater to health care and currently works in accounting, she swears it’s not as boring as it sounds. While this is her first publication, it is by far not the last! She plans on being around for quite some time! You’ve been warned!
