Today I am so pleased to welcome A.M. Arthur to Joyfully Jay. A.M. has come to talk to us about her latest release, Say It Right (which I reviewed here). She has also brought along a book to give away on her tour.  Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

16 Belmont Road

Hey, y’all, I’m back here at Joyfully Jay to celebrate another new release. Book two in my All Saints series, Say It Right, is a new adult romance featuring Marc and Anthony—two young men in very different places in their lives, but whose love can’t be denied.

As soon as I sat down to write this post, I thought, “I have the perfect topic!” Music has been very important to the last four or five books I’ve written, both in the All Saints series and another new series called Off Beat. So I have a lot of different songs in my head at all times, plus play lists for each series. And I really wanted to write a guest post about Disturbed’s cover of “Sound of Silence.” I absolutely love it, and I knew it would make a great post!

For a different book.

That cover was an inspiration for an entirely different book (Steady Stroke) and an entirely different couple (Lincoln and Emmett). Excitement deflated, I was consoled only by the fact that no one knew what a dork I was in mixing up the two books. But that’s what happens when you’re writing multiple series at the same time—sooner or later, you’re going to get mixed up. And if you’re me, it’ll happen multiple times per book.

In Say It Right, there’s a scene where Alessandro decides to take Anthony out to a club so that Anthony can explore his sexuality and his suppressed attraction to men. The club isn’t mentioned by name yet, and in a later scene Anthony tells Marc about the outing, and Marc says they’re probably going to Big Dick’s (and if you’re familiar with my books, you’re probably already shaking your head).

It wasn’t until I was trying to figure out the technicalities of Alessandro parking near Big Dick’s that had one of those “bang your forehead off the desk” moments. Big Dick’s is a fictional gay club in my Cost of Repairs/Perspectives series, not the fictional club from Belonging/Restoration/All Saints. The club I was supposed to get getting Alessandro and Anthony into is Pot O Gold—a very different sort of club and not as far of a drive…

Perhaps one day, a legitimate cross-over with occur, but such amusing mistakes are the price authors sometimes pay for working on multiple series at one time—and sometimes we don’t even catch them before they go to print.

Blurb

Say It RightAfter his parents kicked him out for being gay, Marc Villegas lived on the streets before getting a second chance. Now he’s giving back by working at a shelter for LGBT teenagers—because helping fight their demons keeps his own at bay. Including his infatuation with the former best friend he’s sure is straight.

Anthony Romano hasn’t seen Marc since Marc left home eight years ago. In his confidant’s absence, Anthony turned to heroin. Now at rock bottom, he has an offer from Marc to help him get clean. Detox is hard and ugly, but not as hard as admitting the truth: he’s in love with Marc. Always has been.

Marc swore he’d never date an addict, but he never dreamed the one in question would be the man he’s always wanted to be with. As the two explore their feelings for each other, Marc faces a difficult choice. Say yes, and it could cost him his sobriety; say no, and it could cost him his heart.

Bio

A M ArthurNo stranger to the writing world, A.M. Arthur has been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long. She credits an early fascination with male friendships and “bromance” (and “The Young Riders”) with her later discovery of and subsequent affair with m/m romance stories. When not writing, she can be found in her kitchen, pretending she’s an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments. You can contact her at AM_Arthur(at)yahoo(dot)com.
