Today I am so pleased to welcome V.L. Locey to Joyfully Jay. V.L. has come to talk to us about her participation in the upcoming, Changing on the Fly Anthology. She has also brought along a tour wide giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Why I Write Hockey Romance
Over the years I have had tons of people ask me why I write hockey romance, and more specifically, why gay hockey romance. I’ll address with two responses: One is that I don`t choose my genres, my genres choose me. When a story idea blossoms, it comes to me with my couple predetermined but always the couple comes first. The plot comes afterward. There is no arguing with my muse because she knows what she wants and will become quite bitter if I try to change the leads in any way. My second reply is why not write gay hockey romance? Who says love can only find straight couples who play the game? It’s time for professional gay athletes to stop having to hide who they are. Who cares who you sleep with as long as you can play the game? Let’s start eradicating homophobia in sports. As an ally and an author, I feel that one way to start whittling at the hatred is to spread love via my books. So that`s why I write M/M hockey romances. I love to spread love, and hip checks. Why do you read the genres that you do? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Skate hard and love deeply, V.L. Locey

Bio
V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a flock of assorted domestic fowl, and two Jersey steers. When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in hand. She can also be found online on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and GoodReads. Website: http://vlloceyauthor.com

I adore m/m hockey romance, because anyone who really falls hard for a team (hi, Sharks! how ’bout a Cup this year, okay?) learns that hockey is all about camaraderie and love, not fights and hate. Watch any two guys from the same team in an interview, and I can all but guarantee they will slash themselves within a minute or two (and that’s just the beginning!). Love V.L. and Avon’s stories, and I’ve been wanting to read Samantha’s, so I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this set!
I would certainly like to read this anthology, so thank you for bringing it to my attention as well as for the chance to win. I’ve read several m/m hockey romances. Why? Because, done well, they’re enjoyable to read.
I’ve actually never read m/m hockey before, but an anthology would be a good introduction. 🙂
Thank you for hosting us today! I hope you all enjoy the anthology. It’s a wonderful collection helping a very worthy cause.
Great to have you!
Congrats ladies!!! I love hockey period lol. But seriously these big, tough, hard hockey players falling in love and the feels are the best. I love the sport and romance mix!
I do like m/m hockey stories – I love almost any sub-genre of m/m and hockey is an interesting sport. Thanks!
I love m/m hockey romances! I don’t know the game very well but I love stories about athletes and reading these stories lets me learn more about the game. I love Game Misconduct by V.L. Locey, the Breakaway series by Avon Gale and Home & Away by Samantha Wayland!
I like M/M hockey romances, I actually like most sport romances because of the anguish of having to hide feelings and relationships in a world basically thought for “jocks”. I specially like hockey romance because it is a really tough sport for the toughest guys, so the tension is bigger.
I love live hockey & wish there were teams playing closer to where I live. I can’t watch it on TV because I have trouble tracking the puck when it’s not live. And the vibe isn’t the same. If I can’t watch it live, M/M stories are the next best thing because undoubtedly just like other sports there are gay hockey players too, and they deserve their HEA just as much as the next guy.
I’ve enjoyed reading many types of sports romances including hockey ones. I’m a fan of V.L. Locey’s Eire Series and hope there will be more.
Cool! An anthology is always a neat way to check out different styles and types of writing within one theme or topic.
