A quick thank you to Joyfully Jay, who was one of the first book reviewers I think I’d ever met, for having me here today. There’s a huge giveaway, so make sure to leave a comment or do the rafflecopter thingy.

I’m here to do a little push for my new release, which is actually a re-release of P.O.W. Have a look at the cover that A.J. Corza has done. It really is one of the most stunning covers I think I’ve ever seen. She is pure genius.

Anyway… the book. I was asked what inspired me to write such a story. (Take heed of the warnings attached to this book. There is a reason they are there.) It was actually a story from the Middle East from Anderson Cooper. It was during the spring up rising there and there were a few things he said that made me do a double take.

I went and did a little bit of research and didn’t come up with much. At the time, I had a friend who worked on the weekends close by me and I asked him, since he was an Army Ranger at the time. I asked him directly about gay rape used by radical factions in the Middle East. Surely, I thought, because they are Muslim and since homosexuality was so taboo there, it couldn’t be true. I was told that yeah, it happened. They also tend to look the other way a lot when it comes to men having gay sex… in certain situations.

Okay, so I dug a little deeper. What I started to uncover was yes, it did happen and it happens a lot more than you might think. We as Americans are shielded from it for the most part. It isn’t talked about. Men for the most part don’t say anything about rape, even though it does happen. It isn’t always about the sex but about the power, the humiliation and the degradation of the victim. This is why it happens.

While I was writing this I just knew that the NSA, FBI or CIA was going to come crashing through the door at any minute. Had you looked at my search history during that time, you could well understand why I felt that way. I was a nervous wreck and I even had nightmares. Some were based in fear from said agencies and some were from some of the things that I’d read about and seen. Decapitation was not invented by ISIS by the way. This has been going on, on a regular basis for a long time.

I felt I needed to let people know that I did my research. I dug down, very deep and discovered things that I wish I had never seen. I also felt I needed to write this book and put into words as plainly as possible what some of the men and women, from every nation, might have to endure to protect their country and the world. My hat is off to all of them. It takes balls to do what a lot of them do.

Yes, this book isn’t for everyone. It is hard and gritty. There is a lot of sex. There are parts that will have your heart thumping so hard you may think it is coming out of your chest. There are also parts that are very tender and full of love. Love for a friend and the love of a man and a love of their country and fellow man. I hope that I have done these characters justice as the true hero’s they represent.

Make sure to enter for one of the great prizes today! Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
