Today I am so pleased to welcome Leta Blake to Joyfully Jay. Leta has come to talk to us about her latest release, Slow Heat (which I reviewed here and totally loved). Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

Thank you to Jay for hosting me here today. I wracked my brains trying to come up with something intelligent to say about my new release, Slow Heat, but in the end, I decided to go for something a bit silly and fun instead.

So, I give you…* drum roll *

FIVE REASONS TO READ SLOW HEAT BY LETA BLAKE!

1) It’s a non-shifter Alpha/Omega universe – you know you want to know what that’s about!

In Slow Heat, the alpha and omega sexes have been created by genetic alterations made after a global crisis made it imperative that men’s bodies be altered in a way that would allow them to carry children. It also has resulted in heats and knotting, but more on that in a minute!

2) Imprinting!

There’s something incredibly intriguing to me about the idea of someone imprinting sexually and romantically on someone else. What happens if that imprinting is resisted? What would it feel like to be irresistibly and uncontrollably drawn to a stranger? Is it sexy or scary? Or both?

3) Heat!

There’s no doubt that one of the more compelling aspects of the alpha/omega trope to many readers is the concept of heats—a biological need to have sex that is beyond emotional or mental control and which can result in pregnancy. There are all kinds of reasons this idea is can feel sexy but I’m not a psychologist (though I have a psychology degree!) and won’t bother psychoanalyzing it for the purposes of this post. Let’s just say if you find the idea of heat to be, well, hot? You’re not alone.

4) Knotting!

That’s right! Knotting! Need I say more?

5) Plot that holds together the sexy bits!

Admittedly, I started writing this book planning for it to be 40,000 words of knotting sex and fluff. But somehow a plot happened despite my best efforts and now it’s 117,000 words of plot, feelings, emotions, and knotting sex. But not so much with the fluff.

Hopefully these five reasons are fun enough for you to take a peak at Slow Heat. It’s available from May 16 on and will be at Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited.

Blurb

Slow HeatA lustful young alpha meets his match in an older omega with a past.

Professor Vale Aman has crafted a good life for himself. An unbonded omega in his mid-thirties, he’s long since given up hope that he’ll meet a compatible alpha, let alone his destined mate. He’s fulfilled by his career, his poetry, his cat, and his friends.

When Jason Sabel, a much younger alpha, imprints on Vale in a shocking and public way, longings are ignited that can’t be ignored. Fighting their strong sexual urges, Jason and Vale must agree to contract with each other before they can consummate their passion.

But for Vale, being with Jason means giving up his independence and placing his future in the hands of an untested alpha–as well as facing the scars of his own tumultuous past. He isn’t sure it’s worth it. But Jason isn’t giving up his destined mate without a fight.

This is a stand alone gay romance novel, 117,000 words, with a strong HFN ending, as well as a well-crafted, non-shifter omegaverse, with alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. Content warning for pregnancy loss and aftermath.
