best 2017The end of the year is the perfect time for reflection, which is why I love looking back at all the books I’ve read throughout the year. It’s not always easy to pick out favorites from the bunch, as there’s been a lot of great books that have gotten before my eyeballs. And into my ears. I started looking at books from the end of last year, after my 2016 Favorites list, and here’s the cream of the crop from me. In no particular order, I give you my best of 2017 list!

Daniel and Ryan series by Tamryn Eradani—Hands down, one of my favorite series of the year. In fact, one of my favorites that I’ve ever read. Each installment left me wanting more, while they were each complete. I love these characters, the eroticism, the connection. I will recommend this series anywhere, anytime.

in the shadowsMetahuman Files series by Hailey Turner—Sci fi futuristic military at it’s best. The writing is descriptive and captivating, the characters fully developed and intriguing, and the plot that runs through all the books keeps getting better. Definitely one of this year’s best.

Aftercare by Tanya Chris—From the moment this book started it was fraught with the good kind of tension. I loved the MCs, and I loved the internal conflict with both of them. An absolute winner.

Warlock in Training by T.J. Nichols—This book. I don’t even know what to say. The unique premise, the world building, the unconventional romance…it works on every level.

artificial heartArtificial Heart by T.A. Creech—This one just appealed to my romantic, sci fi, fantasy loving heart. There’s mystery and intrigue and two MCs who are drawn together with chemistry that crackles. The ending was a bit abrupt, yes, but the rest of it works so well, it easily made the list.

Winter Oranges (Audio) by Marie Sexton—This story was captivating and intriguing, and I couldn’t stop listening. Not only was the premise interesting, and succeeded in driving the plot, but the characterization was insanely good. Add to that one of Nick J. Russo’s best performances that I’ve ever listened to, and it all worked.

A Fortunate Blizzard (Audio) by L.C. Chase—It’s no secret I love this author and her style. Trevor and Marc are so heart wrenchingly beautiful in this story, and the cover is absolutely gorgeous. And Nick J. Russo captures the emotion so well. I loved it.

The Weight of it All by N.R. Walker—I was wary of this one, but I shouldn’t have been. Walker excels at characterization, and this book works on just about every level. Plus Henry is hysterical, and I laughed my way through this book. A definite winner.

the long and winding roadThe Long and Winding Road by T.J. Klune–The ending of an amazing series, and it was everything it should be for this weird, wonderful, idiosyncratic cast of characters. It wormed it’s way into my heart and stayed there.

Guardian of Magic by Dominique Frost—This one was fun and exciting, while also being wonderfully different. I really enjoyed this book from start to finish.
