A Day in the Life

Hi there! My name is V.L. Locey and I’m thrilled to be here today! In case you’re not familiar with me I’m an MM romance author, primarily hockey romance, but I do also write non-sporty contemporary, paranormal, and mythological gay romances. Today we’re going to talk a bit about my typical day at work, which just happens to be writing!

My day starts early. Being a hobby farmer means that there are chores that need to be done, and even though we’ve cut back a bit since my daughter is now grown and no longer showing animals at the fair, the early-to-rise schedule has stuck with me. Generally I’m awake at 5 am no matter what day of the week it is. I shuffle out to the kitchen, grab some coffee, and do a round of social media and email checking. I also gab a bit with my fellow authors who may be up while sorting the day’s agenda.

After coffee and chit-chat is done, I do the farm chores which means heading to the chicken and goose coops and letting the birds out, feeding and watering them, and spending a few minutes visiting with the chooks. The geese are too snobby to visit, uppity things that they are.

Then it’s breakfast time. I settle into work by 8 AM and am at the keyboard until 11-12 when I break for lunch. Depending on the amount of work that needs done I may come back to the laptop for more writing or marketing/promotional work. After dinner I get back on, do more social media, and attend to any editing/proofing work that needs my attention. Since my most creative time is early in the day, I write then. By seven pm I’m usually offline for downtime and to spend a few hours with Hubster. Then its off to bed where new ideas seem to percolate and before I know it, morning is here and it’s time to do it all over again!

The path to happiness isn’t going to be easy for Sander as he faces criticism from his friends, teammates, and the press for his choices. The brash young star can handle all that, it’s when his abuser shows up in Cayuga that Sander fears not only for his own safety, but for the lives of the two men he has grown to love. Will Sander’s past tear him away from Mateo and Noah, or will he be able to leave the darkness behind?

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, Dr. Who, Torchwood, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, two Jersey steers and a flock of assorted domestic fowl.

When not writing lusty tales, she can be found enjoying her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in hand.
