Today I am so pleased to welcome TA Moore to Joyfully Jay. TA Moore has come to share an original scene based on her latest release, Wanted-Bad Boyfriend. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

Thanks so much for having me! Wanted-Bad Boyfriend is a contemporary M/M romance set on Ceremony, a small, English island that’s made romance into a cottage industry. Of course, the other thing that small island communities excel at is gossip…and Ceremony is no different. Especially when they have such fertile fodder as Nate and Flynn, the main characters of Wanted-Bad Boyfriend.

The Curry-in-a-Hurry Van

When you owned, drove, and cooked for the island’s only Indian restaurant/food van, you saw a lot. Jayesh Kendall mostly held his water though. He had a five year plan that saw him off the island, at culinary school, and an offer of a good job in a big London restaurant in his sweaty little hand. Not something he intended to jeopardise by telling tales about who was knocking off who or who had gotten a black eye where.

Still. You had to listen.

He tossed stalks of spring onion and potatoes in gram flour and chilli while he listened with half an ear to Jemmie Park as the squat young man held forth to a sullen group of damp Young Farmers stood out in the car park.

“Yeah, well, I told dad he shouldn’t pay.” Jemmie said. He took a swing from his can of beer and scowled. “Fucking Flynn Delaney, who does he think he is?”

One of the Henry twins — the slightly less gormless one, Jayesh thought, but that was a slim difference — burped into his hand. “Him and my dad used to be friends, back in the day,” he said. “Dad said he was, like, drummed out of the army and joined some merc group. Went to, like, Afghanistan or somewhere.”

“Fuck off,” Jemmie said, ripe with contempt.

Jayesh tossed the pakora into the hot fat and shook the basket to make them sizzle.

“No, Dad swears to it.”

“Your Dad is full of shit.”

“You’re full of shit.”

They scuffled briefly, all elbows and shoulders, until someone else interrupted them.

“Tell you what he did do,” Aidan slurred. “Ran my brother out of business. Pete never had trouble with Delaney’s dad, the old man did his tractors and boats and left the cars to my brother. Then all of a sudden Delaney is back, mouthing off about qualifications and all that. Telling people Pete had done a bad job, nobody complained before did they?”

Probably — Jayesh tipped the pakora into a cardboard box and tossed some chilli salt on top — because Pete Connolly had been really good at intimidating nervous old ladies. Not because he’d actually done a good job.

“That’s a fiver,” he said as he passed the fried dish out to Jemmie. He got a grunt and a crumpled note in response.

“That’s right,” Jemmie said, triumphant as if that had been his point all along. “Fucking Delaney, ran the competition off the island and then raised his prices. Well he can’t get away with it with my family.”

He shovelled a handful of pakora into his mouth. The hot batter stung his mouth and he gaped it open so he could fan his tongue with his hand.

Jayesh ladled out a serving of jalfrezi into a carton and added rice.

Blurb

His mother. His best friend. The barmaid at the local pub. Everyone is determined to find Nathan Moffatt a boyfriend. It’s the last thing Nathan wants. After spending every day making sure his clients experience nothing but romantic magic, the Granshire Hotel’s wedding organizer just wants to go home, binge watch crime dramas, and eat pizza in his underwear.

Unfortunately, no one believes him, and he’s stuck with lectures about dying alone. Then inspiration strikes. He needs the people in his life to want him to stay single as much as he does.

He needs a bad boyfriend.

There’s only one man for the job.

Flynn Delaney is used to people on the island of Ceremony thinking the worst of him. But he isn’t sure he wants the dubious honor of worst boyfriend on the entire island. On the other hand, if he plays along, he gets to hang out with the gorgeous Nathan and piss off the owners of the Granshire Hotel. It’s a win-win.

There’s only one problem—Flynn’s actually quite a good boyfriend, and now Nathan’s wondering if getting off the sofa occasionally is really the worst thing in the world.

Bio

TA Moore is a Northern Irish writer of romantic suspense, urban fantasy, and contemporary romance novels. A childhood in a rural, seaside town fostered in her a suspicious nature, a love of mystery, and a streak of black humour a mile wide. As her grandmother always said, ‘she’d laugh at a bad thing that one’, mind you, that was the pot calling the kettle black. TA Moore studied History, Irish mythology, English at University, mostly because she has always loved a good story. She has worked as a journalist, a finance manager, and in the arts sectors before she finally gave in to a lifelong desire to write.

Coffee, Doc Marten boots, and good friends are the essential things in life. Spiders, mayo, and heels are to be avoided.
