Today I am so pleased to welcome Keira Andrews to Joyfully Jay. Keira has come to talk to us about her latest release, Honeymoon for One. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Thanks so much to Jay for having me here today to discuss age-gap romance! As you can probably tell from my backlist, I’m a huge fan of age differences in M/M romance. It’s often referred to as “May/December” romance, although I know some folks understandably think it should be more like May/September. Since it’s longstanding shorthand for a relationship with an age difference and is a common term in the romance genre, I personally don’t take the “December” part literally. 😀
I’m a sucker for opposites attracting and heroes at different stages in life finding common ground. I think there’s something really powerful about a younger man and older man discovering a surprising spark and connection. The power differential is obviously a major potential obstacle, and one of my favorite things about writing age-gap romance is exploring how MCs can be equals in the relationship.
In my new contemporary romance, Honeymoon for One, Clay is in his mid-40s and starting his life over after splitting with his wife. Married young in his small outback town, Clay has repressed his same-sex desire for decades, and when he meets 27-year-old Ethan, old-soul Ethan helps him understand who he really is. Both men are lonely, and they bring comfort and support to each other in different ways, including sexual discovery for Clay.
In Valor on the Move—which is on sale right now for only $0.99—Rafa, the president’s son, is 18 years younger than his Secret Service agent Shane. Shane has avoided romance and any deep emotional connections. To quote his best friend Darnell: “[Y]ou’ve been sleepwalking for a long time now. But this boy woke you up.” Shane brings steadiness, strength and sexual experience to Rafa, but it’s not a one-sided relationship. In every romance, each person brings strengths and weaknesses, and May/December pairings are no exception.

Blurb
The wedding is off, but the love story is just beginning.
Betrayed the night before his wedding by the supposed boy of his dreams, Ethan Robinson escapes the devastating fallout by going on his honeymoon alone to the other side of the world. Hard of hearing and still struggling with the repercussions of being late-deafened, traveling by himself leaves him feeling painfully isolated with his raw, broken heart.
Clay Kelly never expected to be starting life over in his forties. He got hitched young, but now his wife has divorced him and remarried, his kids are grown, and he’s left his rural Outback town. In a new career driving a tour bus on Australia’s East Coast, Clay reckons he’s happy enough. He enjoys his cricket, a few beers, and a quiet life. If he’s a bit lonely, it’s not the end of the world.
Clay befriends Ethan, hoping he can cheer up the sad-eyed young man, and a crush on an unattainable straight guy is exactly the safe distraction Ethan needs. Yet as the days pass and their connection grows, long-repressed desires surface in Clay, and they are shocked to discover romance sparking. Clay is the sexy, rugged man of Ethan’s dreams, and as the clock counts down on their time together, neither wants this honeymoon to end.
Honeymoon for One is a gay romance by Keira Andrews featuring a May-December age difference, a slow burn of newfound friends to lovers, first-time m/m sex, and of course a happy ending.
Bio
After writing for years yet never really finding the right inspiration, Keira discovered her voice in gay romance, which has become a passion. She writes contemporary, historical, paranormal, and fantasy fiction, and—although she loves delicious angst along the way—Keira firmly believes in happy endings. For as Oscar Wilde once said, “The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what fiction means.”

Really want to read this one! Thanks!
Sounds great
I love Keira’s books. Thank you so much for the chance!
I would love this!
Loved this book, but then I’ve loved all of hers that I’ve read so far! In any relationship, I find it interesting to see how they fit together and age-gap romances are no exception. I think that most of us are young(er) on the inside anyway!
I just got a copy for my Kindle. Can’t wait to read it. It is next on my list.
I like age-gap stories but for me the tropes are not the main reason to pick a book. I will read this book anyway because it’s written by Keira Andrews 🙂
I like age gap in books because I love how each character teaches the other so much about living/life.
Welcome, Keira, and thanks for your post. My interest in age gap stories is personal as the first person with whom I was romantically involved was significantly older than me; he had a young spirit though. Best wishes for the success of Honeymoon for One.
Just got Valor On The Move. I suppose I like stories with an age gap when they are are well matched and it’s realistic that these two (or more) people have a chance to make it in the long term. Congratulations on the new release.
Thank you for the post. Congrats on the new book release!
I’m looking forward to reading this! I like seeing how the characters find commonalities and build something lasting.
These both sound awesome!
I love age gaps…and Ethan’s “old-soul” sounds perfect. 🙂
I love the dynamic of May/December relationships, and how the couple interact with each other.
I love the dynamics in a May/Dec relationship and seeing how they overcome the hurdles that their respective ages present.
THanks for the chance. Have this one on my queue to read.
I love stories with an age gap, it’s one of my favorites.
This book was great. I have yet to read a Keira Andrews book I didn’t like.
Age gap romances are growing on me, as long as the younger partner is solidly an adult. The generational differences provide another reason to have to communicate clearly, which is a bit of a catnip for me.
I’m one of those who doesn’t like “May – December” though!
Loved this book 🙂 I love Keira’s books. Thank you Keira!
Already read loved it!
I’m a big fan of age gap romances, especially when it’s something different for both of them. I really love the idea of an older character who’s been through a lot finding comfort with a younger partner. I like when they can work through their struggles together, coming from different perspectives given the difference in age.
Keira, every thing you write is lovely ^^
Keira Andrews is one of my favorite writers! Impossible not to fall in love with her characters and their such well written stories.
Already on my TBR list.
I just finished this one, and loved it! I was so intrigued by the other elements of the story, especially the telling of Ethan’s experience with hearing loss, that the age difference almost felt like a non-issue. A really nice read!
This was an excellent book! I don’t normally like May/December romances but this was a 5 star read!!!
I love age gap…the older one can always learn something new from the younger one as well as the older man teaches his younger boy new things??
This sounds like a good one
I loved both of these books. I love age gap romances reading the dynamics between the characters.
This sounds good I love may/December books
I love May/December books because there’s always an obstacle to overcome. It’s always fun to read when the younger character teaches the older character to step outside their comfort zone. Like getting back on the dance floor and embracing life. Those are great reads.
I love age gap romances and older heroes. In my mid-30s now and I just don’t want to read books about 20-24 year olds who have always been out n proud (even if it cost them). Give me stories about bi or queer heroes in their 30s or 40s who went through standard hetero marriages and then came to realize/accept their queerness and are now looking to live and love authentically.
I don’t see many books with this theme. I can’t wait to read it!s
I enjoy May/December books it’s amazing how sometimes the younger one is the more mature of the couple!
Keira is one author I can not get enough of. Her books are excellent (in my opinion). I am hoping she keeps providong new books to read.
I love an age gap romance. I love an older man guiding and supporting a younger man and a younger man bringing back a spark to an older man. It’s also fun to see a shift in dynamic where the younger man is in charge of the older man in the bedroom.
I adored Honeymoon for One! The descriptions of the settings were breathtaking, and the story was one of the best jilted honeymoon stories I’ve ever read.
Sounds like a very interesting story. Love that this is also about overcoming difficulties as well as a May/December romances.
Sounds like a great read. Love that this story includes overcoming issues for both characters.
I look forward to reading this!
