One reader will receive an e-copy of Felice Stevens’s 2015 holiday novella, The Greatest Gift.
C.S. Poe – Shortbread Cookies with Jam
2 sticks of butter
2/3 cup of sugar
½ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of flour
Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla, blend in dry ingredients.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Roll dough into small balls, and with the end of a wooden spoon, make a hole for jam and fill.
Bake for 9 – 10 minutes at 350.
Enjoy when still warm, or with a cup of coffee.
Felice Stevens – Chicken Soup
A 3-4 pound chicken, cut into eighths
7 cups of cold water
2-3 large carrots, rough chopped into 1 inch chunks
2 stalks of celery chopped
1 Parsnip, sliced lengthwise
1 turnip cup in half
salt and pepper to taste
4-5 sprigs of fresh dill
Bring water to a boil in a large stock pot. Put in cut up chicken and reduce flame to a simmer. Skim the fat and let cook for 30 minutes. At this point add all the vegetables, salt and pepper. Bring back to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover pot halfway, and let cook until all the vegetables are cooked until soft, at least one hour. Take off lid, taste and adjust seasonings, add dill and cook uncovered for 10 more minutes.
Now you can let it cool, take out the chicken, the parsnip and turnip. Skim the fat off the top and throw away. Shred the chicken and add it back to the soup and reheat.
SC Wynne – Clam Dip
2- 8 oz. packages of softened cream cheese.
2- cans of clams, drained. One chopped clams. One minced clams. (save some juice in case texture needs tweaking)
2- cloves fresh garlic
2- Teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce.
Juice from half of a lemon.
Mix well, and serve with sturdy dip chips!

That Turtle Story by C.S. Poe
Nor O’Brien spends his days in sunny Key West caring for and rehabilitating sea turtles. He doesn’t need anything else in life, expect maybe a significant other to cuddle with after a long day. But recent heartbreak has left Nor salty, and he’s not in the mood for anything, Christmas included.
Then Eugene Montgomery walks into Turtle R&R, claiming to have found a clutch of eggs in distress. Nor is smitten with the tourist at first sight, and at the suggestion of his screwball colleagues, indulges in some no-strings-attached fun. Nor and Eugene are quick to get along, happily enjoy each other’s company, and take in the island’s unique holiday pleasures together.
But Nor would never leave his turtles, not for any man. So when his rebound fling turns into strong romantic feelings for Eugene, it’ll take a Christmas miracle to keep the two together forever in Key West.

Single Omegas Only by SC Wynne
Tyler Sly was born unable to conceive, and when you’re an omega, that’s a problem. When his brother convinces him to join him on a singles tour of the wine country, Tyler grudgingly agrees. But when he gets there, his brother is a no-show.
Ronan Blade is just freshly divorced from his wife of two years, and he’s trying to get back into the dating scene. When he meets Tyler, something clicks inside for him. He’s drawn to the quiet omega and begins to spend all his time with Tyler.
Tyler is equally drawn to Ronan, and soon the two men are inseparable. Once the tour ends, the men decide to keep in contact. By now, Ronan is realizing his feelings toward Tyler are not simply those of a friend.
When Ronan comes clean to Tyler about his true feelings, the two men give in to their physical need. But Tyler doesn’t trust that an alpha who’s only been with women his whole life can suddenly love a man.
It’s no wonder then, that when Ronan’s ex-wife shows up, her appearance sends Tyler into a tail spin of fear and doubt.

Felice Stevens – Felice Stevens has always been a romantic at heart. She believes that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. Her characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love.
She lives in New York City with her husband and two children. Her day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass (or two) of red wine. She’s retired from practicing law and now daydreams of a time when she can sit by a beach and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there are bound to be a few bumps along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed

The books sound great. Thanks for the recipes. One of my favorite holiday meals is prime rib with baked potatoes and brussell sprouts and pecan pie for desert.
That sounds delicious, Paul!

Thank you for the recipes! I love cookie and pastry items with preservatives and fruit.
The books look fantastic =) Favorite holiday meal? We use to do lobster and other seafood stuff but as of several years ago. Our main staple is turkey or ham with mashed potatoes, buttermilk biscuit, stuffing and corn.
I’ve never had seafood on a holiday! Sounds intriguing, H.B. 🙂
Okay, I’m now ready for dinner, and I’d like to be invited to Paul’s home as prime rib, sprouts, and pecan pie sounds delicious. We don’t have a set holiday meal — it might be turkey or prime rib or pizza!
Right, Kareni? Paul, we’re all coming over for prime rib! lol
