About the Main Characters
The main characters in Wavesongs are cabin boy Nick Andrews and pirate captain Christopher Hart. Their first meeting is dramatic—Nick’s ship is boarded by pirates, and all his fellow crewmembers are killed. Nick is saved in the last moment by the handsome pirate captain, without knowing for what reason he’s been kept alive. When he finds out he’s shocked—he never knew such things were possible. He doesn’t mind, though. Christopher has stirred feelings in him that he never dared to explore before.
Nick and Christopher are opposites in a lot of ways. Nick is young and uneducated, from a poor family, while Christopher has wealth and power but is troubled by a dark past and plenty of secrets. He tends to keep things to himself, which is something that causes problems in their relationship. Nick is in love for the first time in his life—he wants to share everything, and is hurt when that doesn’t happen.
I’ve always liked writing and reading romance where there’s an age difference and/or a difference in status. I don’t know why, but that’s how it is. Differences in general always work, really, and in this story I’ve created just the kind of pairing that I love the most. They’re not the sugary sweet couple who understand each other perfectly and never raise their voices—there’s plenty of angst and drama! But they care for each other more than anything, and that’s what’s most important. And thanks to their differences they can learn things from each other, and become better people together.

Elvira Bell lives in Sweden and spends most of her time writing, reading or watching movies. Her weaknesses include, but are not limited to: vintage jazz, musicals, kittens, oversized tea cups, men in suits, the 18th century, and anything sparkly.
Elvira writes m/m fiction with a touch of romance and has a penchant for historical settings. She adores all things gothic and will put her characters through hell from time to time because she just loves watching them suffer. It makes the happy endings so much sweeter, after all.
