Today I am so pleased to welcome Kris T. Bethke to Joyfully Jay. Kris has come to talk to us about her latest release, Forever Nine. She has also brought along a sexy excerpt and a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Hey y’all! Thanks so much to Jay for letting me stop by, wearing my author hat, to talk about my new release, Forever Nine.
So what started it all? A sub call, of course. If you don’t know, I’m a sucker for sub calls. More often than not, they speak to me, and I get a story out of it that I love. So when JMS Books asked for stories to celebrate their ninth anniversary, Jesse Reid popped into my head.
Jesse is 29. He’s the ninth child in his family and was born 9/9/90. He speaks nine languages fluently. Nine rules his life. And really, he hates it. Because he’s the ninth child, his family calls him Nine. And he feels like they don’t see him as a person, just a number. Add to that his neighbor, Holden McRae, who also happens to be his dream guy, doesn’t seem to see him either.
Of course it doesn’t stay that way. I do write romance after all! Jesse and Holden come together, and find that their interests align. Jesse is a submission, Holden a Dominant, and they fall into an easy, kinky, wonderful relationship. They fit together so well for me, that it was kind of a breeze to write. The characters kept talking, and when I actually sat down to write, had no trouble bringing their story to life
Wait, kinky, you say? Yep. It’s a departure for me, to be sure. But rest assured, if you like my work, then this is still full of the same fluffy, feel good feels that I love to write. Just with some edge play, impact play, a bit of bondage, and D/s.
So if that all sounds good to you, check out the blurb and sexy, exclusive excerpt I brought along. And because I love giveaways, I brought one of those too! 2 winners can pick a book off my backlist!
“If I’m in charge,” he said, his voice going ridiculously deep, “and I say what you do with your body, should you be touching your cock? At all?”
I started panting and couldn’t tear my eyes away from him. My entire body flushed with heat, and my dick was suddenly so hard, it hurt. “No, sir. I’m sorry, sir.”
“Good boy.” He put down my hand, making sure it was well clear of my waist. And those words did something to me. Knowing I’d pleased him settled something deep inside me.
I remained completely still, except for my heaving breaths, staying exactly where he put me. Holden’s gaze heated and he looked me up and down, that wicked grin spreading even wider to let me know he liked what he saw. Especially when his gaze zeroed in on my very hard cock, tenting the blanket.
“Good boy,” he said again, hardly more than a growl. “You can stay just like that and let me look at you.”
I didn’t even have to fight not to move. Holden wanted me as I was, so I wouldn’t move. “Sir? Does that mean… Are we going to do this?”
My words seemed to startle Holden, and his gaze shot to my face. The arousal there nearly burned me from the inside out. “Yes, Jesse. We have more to talk about, but I can see our wants and needs line up very well.” His expression softened, but his eyes remained heated. “I want to apologize for not listening to you before. You were young, and I thought you were telling me what I wanted to hear instead of voicing your desires. It won’t happen again.”
I beamed at him, positively soaring. “Thank you for saying that, sir.”
Holden touched my cheek, then slid his fingers across my jaw. “You’re very beautiful, boy. I’ve always thought so. I can’t wait to play with you in a few weeks.”
I jerked, not enough to lose his touch, but his words surprised me. “Wait? What? Why a few weeks?”
“Because you just had surgery,” he said, overly patiently, as though it was obvious.
“The doctor said I could have sex whenever I felt up to it!” I sounded petulant and didn’t care. He’d gotten me worked up and told me he was going to finally give me what I wanted, and he was just going to leave me like this?
“Jesse, what I want, what we want, is so much more than sex. Besides, we have a lot more to talk about before we scene together.” Holden leaned in, removed his hand, then placed a soft, chaste kiss on my cheek. “And anyway, you said you wanted orgasm denial. We can start with that.”
A frustrated sound tore out of my throat, and Holden just chuckled as he stood. He ran a hand through my hair, then walked out of the room. But not before he tossed over his shoulder, “You should take a nap.”
He was going to be the death of me. My dick was hard, I wanted his hands on me in the worst way, and he thought I should take a nap? But I found my eyes closing, and I marveled at how much I wanted to obey just because he had given a command.
It wasn’t easy to sleep with a raging hard-on, but as I started to drift, I smiled. Because this was, in fact, exactly what I wanted.
When Jesse Reid needs emergency surgery, he calls his neighbor to come pick him up instead of one of his many family members. As the youngest of nine, Jesse is used to feeling like a leftover, and he doesn’t need their coddling.
Holden McRae is a big, beautiful man, everything Jesse wants. But Holden has made it clear he doesn’t want Jesse as a submissive.
Under the influence of Holden’s care, Jesse becomes bolder and makes Holden see what he’s been missing. The two men’s interests line up, and the attraction that has always been there is something they can finally act on. As Jesse heals, he shares parts of his life with Holden, and Holden helps him see he’s so much more than #9. Their love might not be the most conventional, but maybe it’s exactly what both men need.
Kris T. Bethke has been a voracious reader for pretty much her entire life and has been writing stories for nearly as long. An avid and prolific daydreamer, she always has a story in her head. She spends most of her free time reading, writing, or knitting/crocheting her latest project. Her biggest desire is to find a way to accomplish all three tasks at one time. A classic muscle car will always turn her head, and naps on the weekend are one of her greatest guilty pleasures. She lives in a converted attic with the voices in her head. She’ll tell you she thinks that’s a pretty good deal. Kris believes that love is love, no matter the gender of people involved, and that all love deserves to be celebrated.
