Sean Delaney and Alexei Dvorkin are more in love and devoted to each other than they’ve ever been. After everything they’ve been through and fought to preserve, they are finally tying the knot and getting their happy ever after. With Jamie footing the bill, not only do Sean and Alexei have a lavish bachelor party and a gorgeous wedding, but they get the honeymoon of their dreams.
But as par for the course, things don’t go as planned. After one day of wedded bliss, their past comes calling, and Sean and Alexei have a choice to make. Ignore what’s going on around them, or interrupt their honeymoon to join a mission. While neither man wants to put their honeymoon on hold, the stakes are just too high. And considering who’s crashing things, they won’t say no. They can’t. Because even though their hearts belong to each other, Sean and Alexei are soldiers, and they can’t not to what is right.
I loved this book. I know no one is surprised to hear it, because the Metahuman Files series is one of my all time favorites. Turner has managed to build such a magnificent world and weave her characters into it with a skill we don’t get to see all the time. It was a truly satisfying novella.
Sean and Alexei have been through so much. They’ve had the worst happen to them, and they’ve managed to battle back and make their love even stronger. To see them finally get married is a real treat, and I love how much they love each other. Their devotion to each other is fantastic, and even as they face a new predicament, that love shines through.
As always, the author ties together an action plot with real love and some seriously erotic moments. These guys have passion for miles, and it shows in everything they do. Not just with each other, though that’s probably my favorite part, but also with their dedication to the job…even if they are no longer technically active with the MDF. If I was less than satisfied with any bit of this story, it was with the ending of the mission. But at the same time, I knew it couldn’t be any other way when it happened.
If you’ve been following along with the series (and if not, why aren’t you?), then this story is a must read. No, it can’t be read as a standalone, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this series is a standout. Truly fantastic for it’s world building and characters alone. And this novella is a happy little extra, with true love and awesome action. Give it, and the series, a read.
