Fresh Queer Romances For Your Summer Reading List

A massive thanks to Joyfully Jay for hosting me today and allowing me to chat about my new release, Bottle Rocket!

Bottle Rocket is a queer male/female erotic romance set around the Fourth of July. It follows Rosie, a reserved kindergarten teacher, as she reconnects with Leo, a bad boy erotic artist, for a week. Rosie is newly single and searching for adventure and excitement. Leo offers to help her find some! Bottle Rocket is a second chance, opposites attract romance with a bossy heroine, a bisexual hero, and lots and lots of heat.

I love summer romances. Summer is a time to refresh, and for Rosie, it’s a chance for her to find herself. Summer is a muse for Leo’s art. The season—summer—is practically a character in and of itself. When writing Bottle Rocket, I tried to infuse it with all my favorite parts of summer: snow cones, farmer’s markets, fireworks stands, barbecues, time on the water, jam making, travel.

Romances full of summer vibes are a fresh addition to any summer reading list. Here are a few of my favorite books set in the summer!

Cold Pressed by Allison Temple

The meet-cute at the farmer’s market, along with all the descriptions of fresh squeezed juice, makes this m/m enemies-to-lovers romance a perfect summer read.

American Dreamer by Adriana Herrera

This m/m romance begins on a warm spring day as the main character moves from NYC to Ithaca, NY. A perfect summer read if you love food trucks as much as I do!

In Her Court by Tamsen Parker

An adult summer camp? Sign me up. A f/f best friend’s little sister romance? Even better. This lesfic romance will have you longing for camp life in no time!

Arctic Sun by Annabeth Albert

This m/m Alaskan summer romance is everything I love as an Alaskan. The characters adventure to all my favorite Alaskan summer locales. A perfect vacation read.

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann

This super summery YA/NA m/f romance with asexual and bisexual rep is so bubbly, fun, and real. It also has two swoon-worthy leads and awesome secondary characters.

Blurb

Freshly single Rosie Holiday is on the hunt for passion and excitement. This leads her to Leo Whittaker—a bad boy who waltzed out of town, and her life, thirteen years ago. Leo isn’t the type to stick around, but Rosie’s not going to let a no-strings opportunity pass her by.

When a business trip sends Leo back to his hometown, the last thing he expects is for his first love to hand him a list of scorching-hot escapades and a deadline. He’s happy to help Rosie discover her bossy side in the bedroom. Or in a fireworks stand. Or at a Fourth of July barbecue.

Their chemistry burns bright and fast, but what tore them apart years ago is still between them. They are polar opposites. A reserved kindergarten teacher and an irreverent artist. A nester and a wanderer. It will take a spark of imagination and a lot of love to keep their second-chance romance from flaming out.
